that actually sounds rather sad...we'll take what we can get i guess.
Do you understand the game at all? Are you aware of the fact that it's impossible to field a team full of 1st and 2nd round picks? Ever heard of Drew Pearson? What about Bob Hayes? Did you ever look at the makeup of our early 90's Offensive line (considered by many to be the best ever) and taken a look at how they made it to the NFL?

"Sounds sad?" I'll take gems and gambles working out for the good of the team every year. Our QB is another example. Nothing sad about it beyond the lack of logic that goes into that kind of thinking.

I'm not arguing Stanback has arrived nor that he will stay healthy. I'm saying you pick your best talent that produces and give them opportunities. Olgetree got more chances and delivered. Last night. It's the body of work including camp and in Stanback's case his entire career. He looks unstoppable at times. He's faster than Olgetree. He's more athletic. He knows the offense better. Those aren't knocks on Olgetree either. He looks like he deserves some more opportunities to prove himself. Stanback needs more opportunities esp in games.

Do you really think Olgetree is going to get picked up by someone from the PS? At this point??
I have watched every game since he has been here and I'm trying to think what games are you seeing that he was unstoppable in? This guy hasn't done anything since he got here and now a rookie who has a far better upside than him is outplaying him. Stanback is still trying to learn how to play WR, Ogletree seems more natural.

dont bet on it.for some reason JJ really likes staback's "potential".

What "potential"?, stanback has had plenty of chances to take advantage of his time in the NFL. Ogletree has stepped up and taken his spot.

He looked good against scrubs. He can catch the ball and runs decent routes. He's quick but not that fast just fast enough. He'd be a good 4-6 WR depending on his STs play, PRs, and KRs if that's feasible.

He's not as talented as Stanback. There is only one WR on the team with near his talent and that's Austin. Now that doesn't mean he's NFL ready to start or contribute because there is a lot more to the game at WR than just talent. But you don't teach or coach that stuff. You either have it or not. And he has it in spades.

Doesn't matter how fancy or good you look doing something as long as you get 'er done. He still needs to prove that and stay healthy.

The Stanback sucks routine is old. Get a new gig.

No need.

It's completely accurate.

A fancy sports car that's always in the shop.

In one thread, we have "Stanbach," "Steinbach," and "Staback."

It's a good thing T.J. Houshmandzadeh isn't on this team.
The misspellings are driving me crazy.

Cannot understand how folks can do that to such a simple name.

our wr's failing to get open has been a problem for awhile now. witten is a wr(lets face it, he is a wr that occasionally blocks) because of this. thank god we had TO. these "gems" you speak of have done nothing. i guess the only real good thing to come out of it is that we didn't break the bank on them....

Isaiah Stanback might as well be Randall Williams at this point for all the wide receiver talent he has. Just because he's a good athlete does not make him a good wide receiver, and he's had ample time to prove himself. I think if Ogletree produces more than him in the last 2 preseason games, and especially if he has some nice kick returns, it shouldn't even be a question who we keep.

yeah, that's pretty annoying. You might as well spell Witten, Whitten while you're at it.

If you click of the posts you want to quote...and then the Quote button of the final post to quote, then you can quote multiple posts in one post.

If he does it would mean 3 of our WRs are UDFAs and another one is a 7th round pick who converted positions. Pretty amazing when you think about it.

Being thrown to by ROMO.

I've been wondering how to do that. Thank you!

Regarding Stainbrick,

he's fast, he's athletic, he's injury-prone...year after year after year. At some point, you have ot stay healthy.

Ogletree looked flippin' great last night, and would be picked up by any of 7 or 8 teams in an instant if released. He's SO quick off the line. That one-handed TD catch and all the great press he's been getting assured him a roster spot SOMEWHERE. Stanback's injury history would probably dissuade teams from signing him to anything other than their PS.

:banghead:

Stanback may claim to be a good bowler, but to put both of these guys ahead of Roy Williams on the talent scale is absolutely ridiculous.
