But generally the best one's are! Chris Johnson, AD, Tomlinson, Beastmode etc etc. I don't want one 1,600 yard season, I want multiple 1,600 yard seasons!

Only guy still playing is AD. And he was drafted 10 yrs ago? So the only rb worth drafting in the 1st was drafted 10 yes ago? I'm happy we got zeke because he improves our team more than getting a db or de who usually need a year or so to get acclimated but it's not good value

You can but we aren't seeing consistent elite production from those positions out of the first round like we are at RB.

Makes no difference to my argument at all. You take the Best Player available instead of just drafting for need and if that happens to be what they deem a talent worthy of the spot...you take him. And if we would not have taken him I say someone else would have in the first round...because he was worthy.

People can keep on hating and listening to an idiotic rule made up be...MEL KIPER if they wish.

It's like nobody remembers Romo and Dez were out most of the year, too.

We remember. We also remember that we loss a total of six games by seven points or less WITHOUT Romo and Dez too.
We also remember that our main running back threat - Darren McFadden- scored THREE rushing touchdowns.

So ... if we had a back like Ezekiel Elliott, who scored 7x the amount of touchdowns McFadden scored last year, maybe we win those games and end up in the playoffs.

Then you add Dez and Romo with Ezekiel and you likely have an unstoppable offense?

:)

I'm fine with the pick but I would've taken Ramsey and still got high production from a tailback somewhere.

LOL.

Did you really think a current coach of the Cowboys was going to come out and publicly say that he didn't want Elliott?

I thought the same thing too. The position coach would have been doing cartwheels if the Cowboys had selected Jalen Ramsey.

Three TDs from our stating RB last year vs 3 INTs in a DBs career who would be forced to play at CB instead of Safety.

I'll take Zeke.

Case Closed.

You can't say that without including there was no Romo. We weren't going to score a bunch of TDs with no passing game to keep drives alive.

If Romo goes down don't expect a lot of points being scored again.

With this Oline and a healthy Romo we've shown we can get high production from a 3rd round tailback before.

Here are the multiple All Pro RBs (1st and 2nd teams) in the last ten years:

(7) Peterson - 1st round pick
(3) Charles - 3rd round pick
(3) Foster - UDFA
(3) Jones-Drew - 3rd round pick
(2) Lynch - 1st round pick
(2) McCoy - 2nd round pick
(2) Rice - 2nd round pick
(2) Tomlinson - 1st round pick
(2) Jackson - 1st round pick
(2) Turner - 5th round pick

Sure I can...I am a wild and crazy guy and can say whatever I want as long as it is within the guidelines.

We had Zeke as the starter last year he would have gotten more than three TDs by himself in the season even with Tony and Dez out...even if he Himself was injured half the year. Heck I would wager he probably could have had at least one game where he scored three touchdowns.

See and that is not a far fetched statement at all.

He probably would have because Joseph Randle did.

The stud RB is for sure NOT needed .

In fact, recent SB winners with stud RBs are very rare. Lynch was paired with the best defense in the league...usually a great recipe. After that, not so many examples.

It is a luxury and I hope Dallas takes full advantage of it.

Again, I am not talking about other teams. This is what I feel this particular team needs if it is going to win it all based on Romo's age, history, the fact that we may need a young QB to groom, coaching handicaps, ect...ect.....

If you buy the narrative that we lost those games because of RB TD production, we probably aren't going to agree on the recipe for the cure. The low TD totals were a function of the passing offense more than of the RB position in my book. A healthy Romo and the problem is fixed. If he's hurt, EE's TD marks at Ohio State will be a distant fart in a long forgotten windstorm in Dallas this season.

He probably would have because Joseph Randle did.

He would have beaten Joseph Randle as well,

Difference is they will trust Zeke more than they did any other RB they would have drafted in the lower rounds as a rookie...something some seem to forget.
If they would have drafted a later round running back this year...they would probably have treated them just like they did most of their past rookie running backs not drafted in the first round...in other words, barely get any touches.

2006-2016 Ten years worth of drafts.

RBs taken (not including FBs Deon Anderson and Shaun Chapas)

Joseph Randle - 54 attempts 164 yards rushing 2 TDs 8 receptions for 61 yards 0 TDs
Tashard Choice - 92 attempts 472 yards rushing 2 TDs 21 receptions 185 yards 0 TDs

Only First rounder of the bunch....Felix Jones - 30 attempts 266 rushing yards 3 TDs 2 Receptions 10 yards 0 TDs

For a grand total of 902 rushing yards 7 TDs and 256 Receiving yards and 0 TDs.

First off...look at the number of RBs this team has taken in that ten year period...yet everyone thinks they are going to just take a middle or late rounder...they thought that last year too.

But also look at the number of games and carries those RBs got with this team as a ROOKIE.

Now I don't think it will be stretch to say that Zeke will come close to those totals or even beat them because I think they will play him more and give him more of a role on this offense because he is that good of a player...I doubt they would have if they drafted a RB in the 3-6 rounds.

But that is just my projections at this point.

No kidding.
That's why some posters wanted his eventual replacement in the draft. The cost of 4 to 2 wouldn't have set this team back for a decade as many claimed and could have nipped both the need for a backup QB problem in case of injury to Romo and to replace Romo when it becomes that time (the 4-5 year window is a fantasy) with a rookie blue chip QB on the roster. I wanted that immediately after the senior bowl but that didn't happen; time to move on, etc. Most didn't want to pay that price and wanted Zeke, Bosa, and Ramsey. Understood that too (not so much Bosa tbh).

After the trades went down and those options were gone, I was a trade down guy (Shaq) but support Zeke bc he is a Cowboy. Next year's crop of QBs may be more talented (glass half full scenario) and it works out for the team. I will still cringe/clinch em every time Romo hits the turf; Zeke playing or not. I support Dak as well, just more question the staff's ability to groom him properly.

Ramsey looks like nothing when you compare him to Jalen Tabor. I don't get the love with Ramsey he looks like he can be easily abused in coverage.

Ramsey is a player, but we drafted that player last year in Byron Jones.

Love, love, love Byron Jones. Jalen Ramsey is significantly better.

Elliott is a great player and he will impact this team's chances this year. IMO this defense will cost us when games matter most and that will waist yet another year of Romo's career. Eventually you have to fix this defense.

He is better, not significantly better. Same type of player. Byron has him in the broad jump as well. :)
