Shuffling Collins to RT and Chaz Green to LG has really messed up the chemistry on the line. Watching the 1st team offense last night, it was clear they are far from being proficient at their positions.

Dak had a clean pocket to throw in maybe 3 times out of the 16-17 times he dropped back.

I really think letting Leary go will come back and bite us this year. Or it might be the defense again, not sure.

Unfortunately this is a part of success in the NFL. You lose key pieces like Leary and have to reshuffle. Also guys get old. With the way the league is built, you have short windows. Dak still has a better line than Romo had 99% of his career. Most QB's do not get the luxury of having a line even this good.

I suspect they'll gel together some more but the absolutely dominant line is probably a thing of the past. They will probably just be a really good line this year and if that's not enough, we have other problems to address.

So it might be Leary being gone? Or maybe the defense? Just a basket of positivity aren't we?

The Raiders have one of the more active front 7's in football and Dak went 11 for 14 with a TD and no picks. You almost have to be looking for something to complain about. Definitely feel that we need to forget about Chaz Green being a starter and hoping we don't ever have to count on him for more than spot duty. For whatever reason, he can't seem to stay on the field and it isn't something new. He was always injured at UF as well.

Collins looked good, the penalties for illegal hands to the face are just developmental things. He is trying to get a good punch and he is just sloppy with it right now. He will get better. The first one shouldn't have been a penalty....he hit the shoulder pad and his hand just bounced up....wasn't a direct strike to the face.
This offense is primed to be pretty explosive and it seems like Dak has raised the bar for himself.

I wish we would have kept leary but I didnt see these issues last night. Collins penalties hurt a couple of drives and negated some big plays.

There were a couple of plays where zeke and morris missed or were late in protection but other than that they seem to be business as usual.

Im confident collins will be a good player, left guard is going to be up and down all year but it should not get us beat in games I hope.

I think people have been WAY too hard on Collins, even last night.

Now, yes, the penalties are drive killers and he has to clean that up. But the two hands to face penalties were just discipline issues and not the cause of Collins being overmatched at RT last night. I'd be much more worried if last night he was a turnstile and guys were just getting past him.

Also, the bar to match what Free provided in 2016 isn't that high to begin with. I think Collins will be fine.

Frankly, I thought the OL looked a bit better last week when Cooper was working with the ones at LG.

Even with the penalties last night, I thought Collins was impressive considering he was going against Mack. He didn't really seem to have many problems with him and that guy is the reigning defensive player of the year. He needs to clean up the penalties but I don't think that's a red flag just yet.

The LG play won't be as good as last year but I hardly see it derailing the entire offense. I think Green is actually pretty good but unfortunately I'm not sure he can make it through a game or two without getting hurt. Cooper seems at least decent and since he will be playing between Smith and Frederick, he should be able to at least hold his own.

The Chaz Green experiment needs to stop. He isn't a guard. And his health issues keep him from being able to get the practice time in. Leave him at swing tackle and put him in bubble wrap and hope we don't have to play him more than to spot a guy.

Collins is already WAY better than Free was a year ago. It isn't disputable. Cooper looks like he can get the job done.

Not sure what game you guys were watching but for the most part Dak had all kinds of time to throw. He was pressured but there is over exaggeration in this thread. Is the Oline perfect no way, way too many penalties especially hands to the face. These can be rectified. More concerned about the holding penalties. Like Garrett says its a process and as the season goes along will gell.

That was the Colts. This was a real team last night.

Collins' short arms are going to be a problem against better pass rushers. They need to get him back to left guard.

Funny cause here is my thoughts.

I said Cooper was better then Green which some of yall came to his defense......to prove it. The line looks and plays the worst when Green is in at LG. Now go back to last week when Cooper was in at LG(95 yards right down the field)

Not sure when you will get it but Cooper is the better LG and the line plays better with Cooper there

leary was a big part of the line. it was no mistake they played better with him and losing him would be tough but alot of the users here with their coaching experience and knowledge said his loss was no big deal.

And that's against the Raiders
Wait till we play the Giants or Eagles

Green needs to be backup. Maybe. Availability is #1 in the NFL. No doubt McClay has a list of guards he is planning to bring in if they get cut.

New England never had the same problem when they lose a player. They just plug in the next.
