Green needs to be backup. Maybe. Availability is #1 in the NFL. No doubt McClay has a list of guards he is planning to bring in if they get cut.

Not a ton of quality depth just sitting out there.

Not re-signing Leary was stupid.

You don't mess with the key unit on your football team.

Dak had better be ready to take some hits.
He wasn't worth the money he got paid. It would be a gross misappropriation of resources. How many pro bowlers do you need on an offensive line? We have 3, possibly 4. If you cant make that work then you have bigger problems.

Shuffling Collins to RT and Chaz Green to LG has really messed up the chemistry on the line. Watching the 1st team offense last night, it was clear they are far from being proficient at their positions.

Dak had a clean pocket to throw in maybe 3 times out of the 16-17 times he dropped back.

I really think letting Leary go will come back and bite us this year. Or it might be the defense again, not sure.

Can you name one team with a better OL? No, you can't. And both the starting and 2nd string OL looked 'proficient' last night.

Exactly, when they sign Martin they'll have too much invested in one position group.

With the exception of one play last night he was pretty much untouched. People are trying to find something to complain about. THere are issues that we need to fix that are much bigger than the OL. The secondary is a huge question mark still and we have zero LB depth and are going to be missing multiple DL the first few weeks.

Exactly.

People don't seem to realize that there is something called a salary cap. too much spent in one area leaves a shortage of funds elsewhere. That causes more problems.

You can't pay everybody.

I watched a different game. Dak was under pressure multiple times, and Collins struggled again.

I'd rather have 4 above average linemen and a problem at right tackle than 3 above average linemen and problems at LG and RT.

Leary is significantly better than Collins. Not really close. In fact, he was as good last year as the big three.

from a big picture cap perspective, I don't believe it was fiscally feasible to keep Leary. I think he's getting north of $9mil a year
I never break up my best unit. I wouldn't spend that on Leary if I have multiple holes on the line, but if it's the best unit in the NFL, I keep it together.

Funny cause here is my thoughts.

I said Cooper was better then Green which some of yall came to his defense......to prove it. The line looks and plays the worst when Green is in at LG. Now go back to last week when Cooper was in at LG(95 yards right down the field)

Not sure when you will get it but Cooper is the better LG and the line plays better with Cooper there
That was the Colts. EVERYBODY looks good against their defensive front 7.

I agree. But you can't pay a guy with degenerative knee problems outrageous money like the Broncos did. Not when you have 3 pro bowlers already on your oline, plus Lael Collins. 31 other teams would take our oline over theirs. If were spending money, it should be on the defensive side. That's been our Achilles heel.
