Staubach made personal call to Jerry: "Don't let Dak go"

He propped up Romo, loved Romo. Aikman said Romo was better than he EVER was. Yet, most of this board would never agree with that.

It's idiotic to think just because someone was a great player they can evaluate talent well. These dudes are sobs and emotionally invested in the Cowboys and their players. Jones allows the wrong people to get in his ear because he's a sob as well, which is why every other year we have some stupid rehab project.

Some of you need to start trusting your eyes.
I’d be more apt to trust the eyes of former Cowboy greats if they aligned with my eyes than some anonymous yahoo’s on a fan forum.

Especially Troy who’s often been publicly critical of aspects of the Cowboys . To the point he’s often been bashed on this forum by Homers.

And I don’t believe that’s exactly the terminology Troy used to describe Romo.

Quincy was talented, off field issues hurt him. Last time I heard from him he was doing good things. I hope that's still the case, I think I'll reach out and find out for myself.

He was just in the wrong era. He needed psychological care.

Staubach & Aikman are both very pro-Dak guys. And Dak grew up loving Aikman. Let's get behind Dak, he is one of us.
That's a pretty cool story. If Aikman and Staubach are backing him then it's hard not to jump on board. How I look at it now is Dak is a Cowboy and will be for a while so as fans let's put it all behind us and support this team.

And thank God this contract journey is over. I'm looking forward to a positive offseason and drama free start to the 2021 season.

Staubach's actual quote was "Hey, Jerry, don't let this kid get in the way."

If Romo had the offensive line, defense and coaching that Troy did in his prime. Specifically 89-93, then Romo would have won super bowls too. If Dak had the same things as Troy he'd already be a 2 time super bowl champ.

I'm not going to say Romo and Dak are on Troy's level. No way but to dismiss Troy's statements about both QBs is agenda driven. Romo and Dak were/are talented enough to win it all with. Our lack of success is not due to QB play but due to non football men running the team into the ground and being a laughable FO.

I truly believe if we somehow drafted, signed, acquired players of the same caliber as those 90's teams. Our organization has reached a point of such dysfunctional behavior that we would still lose and underachieve. Our organization has not shown that winning is a priority in 25 years.

I never liked Staubach.

Just heard Danny White speak highly of Dak and how important it was to get him signed. Yet some internet messenger board posters think they know better than these guys.

Yeah I think Quincy has indeed cleaned himself up after conquering his demons. And there is nothing wrong with Roger supporting the Cowboys QBs no matter who they might be. That's what a class act does.

I just heard Jimmy Johnson, the guy that built a dynasty say the opposite.

Or are we ignoring that and only listening to pro-Dak people? I'm confused here.

Seems to me that the decision to pay Dak and keep trying the same thing that failed 5 years in a row was heavily weighted toward appeasing fans and players and not toward winning a championship.

Just seeing the reaction from the Dak-worshippers here tells me they would have had conniptions if Jerry let Dak go. Some would have walked away. The players definitely would have been upset.

Roger has a box in the stadium so he spends more money on the team and has a bigger say than me, who only bought a hat in the last 6 years. And he knows more about football.

I don’t see it but the fans who spend money are happy. I just don’t see championship in the next 4 years.

100%

It's a country club move.

Dak’s 1-2 playoff record in 5 seasons should end any confusion

Roger and Troy are disingenuous in their praise.......they think it makes them look pure

A lie detector test would fail on both of them. Jimmy doesn’t feel an obligation to cave in

I'm sad to say that Roger probably won't see Dallas win another SB.
