Honestly, the solution they’re banking on this year is Dak avoiding the rush at a high level and getting rid of the ball.

Dak was able to do it last year. He is going to have to do it again this year. It just is what it is.

Why not move TS to LT and Guyton to RT and Bass can play LG. When Smith did play LT he played at a pro bowl level. And why wouldn’t you want your best T protecting your $60 million QB? I know it won’t happen but if Steele continues to suck what’s the best option?

Because if you ask many of the experts here, they would rather sacrifice their franchise QB and season altogether than move Tyler Smith from left guard to left tackle.

Even while there are absolutely no other options at the tackle position on the current roster.

And in 2023 we had a top 5 defense in both yards allowed and scoring. Despite that our defense got exposed multiple times against stronger offenses including the playoff game against GB because we were deficient at just a couple of positions.

I'm not saying the offense is going to be bad this year, but by just looking at the ranking and saying were fine with questionable tackle play is for fools. The aggragate was very good, but this 2025 offense
had its struggles as well situationally. The red zone struggles are well documented as well as the offense going silent for full halves at times. Teams like Denver, LAC, Chicago, even Arizona made this offense look pretty ordinary.

Its a fairly safe bet that this is a top 10 offense once again, but I won't sit here and pretend like it cant be upgraded and truly be a well rounded group either.

Ah, yes. Dak has had a few stinker games every year. CeeDee has had some dropsies and Pickens flat out quit a couple games last year.

So why dont we talk about that? Instead we pick on a RT who has been very serviceable and has been called the best run blocker Zack Martin ever played with.

Oh, and Guyton who everyone with any foresight new was a couple years away when he was drafted.

Ive said over and over again, a good defense gets us a shot. Only a consistently good Dak will get us to a SuperBowl.

A couple of sacks is pretty bad, imo.

It's definitely not ideal, but without knowing what we were doing, it's hard to fully judge it. I mean, in practice, I think we would want the tackles on an island to see how they handle the one-on-ones whether it's a seven-step drop or a three-step drop. It's kind of like last year against Cleveland and Myles Garrett, we did multiple things to cut down on his ability to pressure by providing help, moving the pocket, etc. We aren't liable to do that in a practice because we want to see the individual effort.

You'd like to see him win every snap, but there are good players, and even better players at times, on the other side of the ball as well.

Yeah I agree and don't argue this but just think what we did is better than cutting him. If he doesn't remain a starter he is good enough to be a back up.

Not much can be done. Line play is an issue across the entire league. Nobody is trading anyone worth a damn. TS will only get moved if TG gets hurt. We will just have to deal with it. Any contender that suffers loss up front may see their season in tatters. Including the Rams.

Me too. IDK WHAT he is showing in practice for him to bee the starter and them not attempt to find someone better via the offseason or trade. I mean Steele is 29 years old. He aint gonna get any better than he is now and thats not good. He would make for a decent backup but he aint a starting caliber player. I said the same thing last offseason. We have to help him with the TE too often or Dak won't make it through the season.

Yeah players typically don’t get better as they hit 30 years old. Steele is what he is at this point.

He took a pay cut. You don't see that too often. Believe cutting him is a cap hit and at his price even if he isn't the starter he's and adequate back up.

Even taking a pay cut, Steele has the 13th-highest cap hit for RT in the NFL, hardly what you want to pay for an adequate backup.

But you are correct the cap hit if we cut him (post June 1st) is actually a quarter million dollars more than keeping him.

Between Schott, Riley and Adams and even Tyron chipping in, Im sure this group can do a great coach 'em up job with any and all offensive linemen on the roster.

And as for Steele and Guyton...
They are gonna be like a pass blocking force field that no dee lineman can get through by the time the season starts.

That number is from after we revised his contract in March and gave him $22 million more in guarantees (he had none left). We would have saved money on the cap had we just cut him instead.

Yes he is one of the best LG’s in the league as he would be one of the best LT’s.

Cowboys have moved him to LT before.

He said during the offseason he wanted clarity on which spot he was playing. Never said he didn’t want to play LT.
