Imagine owning a team and sitting down and being interviewed by the guy who repeatedly laughs at your fans, your team, and your GM decisions.

Jerry keeps proving what he cares about most. Being seen.
You understand that Stephen A. is acting when he does that, right? Jerry knows this and uses it for his brand the same way SAS does his schtick for his brand. Mutually beneficial, game recognizes game, yadda, yadda, yadda.

ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reported Thursday a source "with direct knowledge of the situation" said it is "looking like free agency at this point" for the quarterback who is entering the final year of his current contract.

Fowler also called the negotiations "confounding" and added that Dallas "will have to come around" on the "inevitability" that Prescott will be the league's highest-paid quarterback when he does sign his next deal.
Cool. Doesn't change anything

possibly some of that can be true but we both know that Jerry Jones can be a bit senile..... Who knows why he said it or what he meant and stop trying to read between the lines....

My take on Prescott he could sign before the season during the season between February and March when he's a real free agent or you possibly could shop his services around and bring Jerry a chance to match it...

In my opinion Prescott is not gone until he is officially gone... This is a non story to me because as long as he's here for 2024 I don't care about next year or the year after I'll worry about that in February of 2025 when we start looking toward next season and then it matters whether we have prescott here or not...

ILL PASS

anyone have the bulletpoints?
Why would you pass? Instead of listening to all the genius takes in here that tell you why Jerry does what he does, and tell you what Jerry means, why not actually listen to the man himself. SAS is actually outstanding when he isnt in character. Jerry, hate him all you want, but Jerry answers questions he is asked. This was a great interview.

Because interviews are as bad as politics... Not interested in either one of those opinions that's why I watched the games I'll form my own opinion each game this year hopefully by mid season we'll know what we have...

I'm not gonna try to read between the lines I really don't care what either has to say that's why....

My take on Prescott he could sign before the season during the season between February and March when he's a real free agent or you possibly could shop his services around and bring Jerry a chance to match it... That includes what's being said by the agents like they're not interested in negotiating during the season that's nonsense that's just posturing to get the deal done before the season but I believe at any point Prescott could still be on this team even if he's not signed by March of next year....

In my opinion Prescott is not gone until he is officially gone... This is a non-story to me because as long as he's here for 2024 I don't care about next year or the year after I'll worry about that in February of 2025 when we start looking toward next season and then it matters whether we have Prescott here or not...

Look I'm sure you think that but again I'm not taking my time to listen to people's opinions 'cause right now that's all it is people trying to read between the lines trying to assess what they meant and what they really said it's like listen to political debates...

And yes some of what I heard Jerry's right I think the team possibly could be better this year 'cause we haven't seen many of the changes the players that we didn't get to see much of last year or the improved players or the players added that hadn't played in preseason ones coming off injury some of the rookies This is why we watch games I mean literally no one knows what any team is gonna do and there's no such thing as strength to schedule that's a made-up thing in order for them to form the schedule... The league changes every year every team is gonna be different this whole you act like you know what a team's gonna do in the head-to-head matches are gonna be because of what they did last year is nonsense but everything Jerry and Steven says in there is still gonna be hyperbole and rhetoric because nobody knows how this team as a team as a cohesive unit is gonna come together and play each game and also have no idea what their opponents are gonna do either I don't care what they did last year...

So I hope that clears it up that I'd rather form my own opinion and that is why I watch every game... And like Bob has said and I've always said the NFL is almost the hardest pro sports to predict it's almost unpredictable and it's because of what you listen to all offseason what people think they feel that each team is done or hasn't done in the offseason.

But every time the schedule comes out and it's formed by the strength of schedule everybody thinks these match ups are predictable because of what they did the year before and it's absolutely not true.... So that's all this interview's gonna do is get opinions back and forth but it didn't clear anything up.

No but it's unimportant for me to know how Jerry feels about this team or how Stephen A Smith disagrees what... I explained that in another not yet released by the moderator response to you so you'll see that in a little bit... Again I form my own opinions on what I saw this offseason and I think we could be a better team but we won't know that until we watch the season so I don't need to hear what people's opinions about our team is including a lot of y'all who said this was an historically bad offseason I've heard that before and every time I've heard it we've won 12 games every time I've heard it we did move up we wanted division title and we had a higher seed this year Mike McCarthy has made this team at least stay as good or be a slight better each year like he said in his interviews he believes the 5th year is the most important year for him he called it the rooting he used the bamboo thing but do we wanna listen to that either nobody really knows that's a cohesive unit how this is gonna turn out and that's what makes it the ultimate reality TV and why I watch football it's a short season it's a one and done playoff season with a super long offseason so this is super important is watching all 17 games and making a judgment for myself..

Im very confused about your comments.

This interview is not "Opinions." Now if I was being interviewed, than yes, I could se eyour point. But when Jerry is asked why they didnt go after Derrick Henry, when he answers, that is not his opinion on why the Cowboys didnt go after Henry, this is factually why they didnt go after Henry.

When he is asked why they didnt sign Lamb sooner since it was very clear about what the numbers were going to eventually be, Jerry answers with FACTS on why it took as long as it did, not opinions.

By the way, I loved his answer about not getting any bonus points if Lamb was signed sooner vs later.

well you cant get any opinion on why it took so long to sign Lamb by watching games.

Now if you dont care why it took so long, then ok. But that was clearly a very big topic in these forums.

A Dak homer reporter trying to read into Jerry’s words is not as good as the “source with direct knowledge” saying “looking like free agency at this point”.
Nameless source with alleged insider information. Versus long-time Cowboys reporter who thinks he knows what Jones is thinking. Not sure anyone should overly depended upon either as being solidly credible.
