Are open to extending his contract............not exactly reassuring. Sounds like under the right circumstances.......goes back to what I was saying. What they wanna do and Dak wanna may be two different things.

Prescott has two years left on his deal with two void years. By turning it into a four-year deal, with two void years, they can lower the cap hits for the next two years into a more reasonable range instead of $49 million and $52 million. They can't do this without an extension because they only have two years to work with since Prescott signed a four-year deal.

The problem with doing it is it likely moves any potential out to after 2025, maybe 2024 at the earliest. Right now, we can cut him after 2023 and save $12 million even though we take a dead cap hit of $40 million.

If we extend him, it's likely his first two years of the new deal would be similar to his first two years of this deal, around $20 million instead of more than double that. So we save $61 million against the cap for the next two years.

I know a lot of Cowboys fans would love to see the team move on from him this offseason and replace him with Derek Carr, Marcus Mariota, Matt Ryan, Teddy, Bridgewater, Jacoby Brissett, or some other castoff, but hate to disappoint everyone it’s not going to happen.
