Stephen Jones speaks about Elliott and Prescott as if he is afraid they are going to beat him up in the hallway.
They have been a huge financial success for their franchise . Fans forget the NFL is a business first.

So wait…is this him trying to roll back Jerrys comment about drafting a QB, or am I hearing that wrong?

Either way we appear to be all over the map and man if that few days of Jones silence wasn’t great.

These are the kind of announcements which solidify my narrative on our ownership. Thank you Stephen. Lol

jerry's fear in this situation is that if he lets Dak go and Dak actually does better with another team , then it proves he failed as a GM to build a roster around Dak. I don't think Dak will ever do better than what the cowboys have put around him : either best OL during several seasons with top notch WR Corps ( Amari , Cee Dee etc ) , which yielded nothing but one playoff win in 4 years. Then they fiexed the defense so he does not have to score 34 points each game, and we saw how that also ended ( 12 points vs 49ers).
It is easier for Jerry to stick with a serviceable Dak and see if he lucks into a SB

No reason we can’t do both. Jethro didn’t say he’d be drafting Daks heir apparent. It could just be another mid to lower round pick.

It’s more about solidifying the stability Prescott delivers .

Remember Jethro can sell 8-8 line nobody business . Back to back 12 win playoff seasons with a road win is one of the greatest runs in 21st Century for Cowboys.

Let's be real what is he suppose to say.
He doesn't have to say anything. That's the problem. He and his daddy think they have to say something and all of the dallas media obliges him and his daddy by sticking a camera and microphone in their face, and 99 percent of the fan base will watch and listen and be sucked in.

He could just say 'all of those discussions will be held by our front office and coaching staff at a later date. I have nothing to discuss right now"

They would never say that. I get it. That's not what they are about. They're about selling entertainment. That's why they broadcast who we're drafting, trading, who's starting on sunday, etc. Information is entertainment and they got that part down to a science.

It's doing what it takes to win championships and that they have no clue about.

And it’s not even a priority . I’m not sure they are really even trying . The Cowboys under this dysfunctional ownership is Sports Entertainment. And no one does it better. We only want to win Jethro’s way.

Not surprising in any way -- it was always evident that our FO wouldn't allow anything else but to stick with Dak, regardless of the final outcome.

Maybe we'll luck out and they'll fire everyone that tries to change his inability to take them to a Super Bowl appearance, including themselves?!
OK -- perhaps I should pinch myself now and wake up from my dream! I've always longed to see something like this happen to no avail. :banghead:

agree, the regular season record is something jerry cheriches. The problem is that the Eagles have gotten way better and the Giants are coming up. The NFC East is not a weakling anymore

Of course they are. They basically moved out the OC instead of the QB.

That's a sure as heck sign they are backing Dak. I expect an offseason largely focused on the offense despite the defense also needing some real work. They'll just assume Quinn will work his magic with only 1 CB and no DTs.
yeah the cowboys SB window just slammed shut.
They will do good during the season then falter in playoffs as usual.

Jones boys are sticking with big mike as HC, but evidently dont realize mikes GB teams faltered every year in playoffs after 2010.
I remember his 15-1 team, losing to nyg lol one and done at home!
The seattle champ game after beating dallas in div, and mikes game mgmt let seattle steal that game from him.
He isnt a SB HC, he got lucky once with a very good team defense included, after that he was just like the cowboy teams in same time period.

But the outcome has been successful. A financial windfall. And a playoff contender .

Prescott has helped keep this franchise interesting and relative. Not bad for an 80 year old owner meddling as a GM living the dream all on our Nickel.

Yep but that’s ok. He still has a product he can hype and sell.

Cowboy fans still living in the past . Like championships are the ultimate goal. Meanwhile this ole fool is living the dream . All on our nickel.

you know just like cowboys will beat themselves in losing a game, jerry and his boy do same thing in managing the team and personel.
They shoot themselves in the foot, and then wonder why they cant win in playoffs.
They never see themselves at fault, they blame others, coaches or players and fire them, then get same results and still they
dont see that it is THEM that is the reason they always cant compete in playoffs.

Many of their personnel decicions just kill their chances.
Kellen is lucky he got to leave.

no it is on the people who buy the psl's and the ones that go to the games, that is where jerry makes all his money, on the home games,
and stadium is always full. Those are the stupid people who support jerry and his ridiculous Circus.
And then to a smaller extent the ones who buy cowboy merchanise.

Jerry’s mistake is perpetually thinks the team is close even when they aren’t….so when he gets back to back post season seasons he really thinks they are close
