Anytime the ball is thrown to a receiver that is not in view of the TV screen and the camera has to follow the ball I get the stomach bubbles.

His decision making has never been great, but he just doesn't have the arm talent to complete some of the passes he insists on attempting.
Well you’re a well known Dak hater so no one gives a damn about your opinion.

Your key word is slowmo. In real speed, it's a within 5 yard jam that happened to catch the facemask. It wasn't a control and turn or other. Even in the facemask rule, you are allowed to grasp but have to let go immediately and not "control the opponent." A yank would be controlling in order to keep up, etc. Here, a jam caught the facemask as a clear incidental. Not a foul.

That's your typical BS opinion as usual. I've seen them throw a flag on this type of play many times. If it's clearly a no foul as you claim, it would not have been called as often as it is called.

The rule clearly states it's a foul.

“No player shall grasp and control, twist, turn, push, or pull the facemask of an opponent in any direction"

The most frustrating part of that interception is that Dalton Schultz was wide open on the right side of the field with no one within 10 yards of him. They didn't show it on the broadcast, but I was at the game and couldn't believe that Dak didn't throw it to him as it would have been an easy first down pickup. He just locked in on the left side of the field and didn't give Schultz a look. It's at the 29 minute mark on the All-22 on NFL+

It's BS to you because you can't gainsay it. Produce video if you have comparison examples. And don't forget to post the notes portion of the rules if you're going to quote one, rookie. It just so happens to apply here. But you're not a slanted take, lying piece of filth that would ever deliberately leave out pertinent information that works against your case, I can tell.

Note: If a player grasps an opponent’s facemask or helmet opening, he must immediately release it. If he does not
immediately release it and controls his opponent, it is a foul.

I'm here late but I don't put that pick on Gallup OR Dak.

Gilmore had illegal contact and Gallup was on the ground when the ball got there. The officials are to blame. Just my take.

Like I said before Gilmore won this Battle against Gallup and it turned into an INT . Gallup made up for it had a couple of TD’s. As a receiver if you can’t catch the ball thrown your way turn into the defender , prevent damage .

It's incredible how some people think players have magical powers over gravity & physics. Stuff like that is going to happen. It's part of the game.

Regardless of falling or not, you are exactly correct. Gilmore had taken a position outside Gallup. The intended route is cut off. The QB can clearly see the position the defender has taken. Either don't throw the ball or throw it to the inside hoping that Gallup reads the situation & aborts the intended route. Do NOT throw it directly to the defender and then act like it's not on the QB.
WRONG timing pass he let it go as the where gallups was headed and gallup got ran into and knocked down as a subtle as it looked it was illegal contact at worse, PI at best,,you can not impede a worse on deep come back so how's this not The same??

so fan sit here and complain dak doesn't throw a receiver open or a timing throw to spot he always waits for one to be TOO OPEN.. well this years hes tried that and its backfired for myriad of reasons, like bad routes and in this case a CB bumping glaup off his route.

sorry man that not on Dak.. do a poll, 75% will side with me.,.it was an illegal contact or a PI that was not called..

It's BS because you will never admit the refs are wrong. Why don't you produce a video that says this is allowed?

This is the rule.

TWISTING, PULLING, OR TURNING THE FACEMASK

No player shall grasp and control, twist, turn, push, or pull the facemask of an opponent in any direction.

Note: If a player grasps an opponent’s facemask, he must immediately release it. If he does not immediately release it and controls his opponent, it is a foul.

Penalty: For twisting, turning, pushing, pulling, or controlling the mask: Loss of 15 yards. The player may be disqualified if the action is flagrant. If the foul is by the defense, it is also an automatic first down.

It's clear as day Gilmore pulled and twists the facemask. You can tell by MG's head position his head was being yanked. MG's head wouldn't have been twisted had Gilmore immediately release the grasp.

I've looked at it multiple times in slowmo and you are blind if you think there was no twisting on the facemask. Just look at MG's head position and you can tell his head has been yanked.

I just don’t see it.

Right before Gilmore makes contact, Gallup turns his head into Gilmore and then a split second later he pulls his head away without much affect on his helmet, positioning, etc.

I’m not saying Gilmore doesn’t grasp his face mask at all. I’m just saying that he never twisted or controlled Gallup.

They’re just not going to call that 90+% of the time. And they shouldn’t

This is where Gilmore starts to grab the face mask. You can see MG's head is straight toward where he is running as it should be.

Then this is what happens after Gilmore grabs the facemasks. It's clear that Gilmore yanked on MG's facemask where MG's head has turned toward Gilmore due to the grabbing/pulling of the facemask.

If you notice, I have steered clear of the discussion regarding went on at the catch point. I could have seen it getting called or not called. I felt the defender established & maintained excellent position. I would say the same if it were our defender.

As to "timing pass", that is generally reserved for the QB hitting his designed drop steps and firing the ball. In this case, I believe Dak was actually drifting to his left and waiting \ watching the play develop.

The replay that I saw (I believe during the broadcast) from downfield allowed you to see Gallup, Gillmore & Dak. Most definitive as to what occurred when. I believe Dak was still holding the ball as the contact was occurring. He could clearly see that Gillmore was outside Gallup and in great position. Therefore, I can only conclude it was a poor decision to throw the ball in that area regardless of what else was happening. To me, that should be the least subjective question about the play. If you know the defender is where you hoped your receiver would be, that should be an instant move on decision, right?

Here is a video on the rule from the NFL.

At 36 seconds, it explains what the foul is for this type of play. There is another example at 58 second that is very similar to what happened on the MG play.
Funny thing is it's Amari getting the facemask treatment in the video.

Of course, Marcus Rock will say the video from NFL is wrong and come up with some BS excuses for the refs and himself again.

That has to be totally on Gallup . As a receiver you have to stay upright in order to catch the ball and in a storied career in NE now Indy Gilmore probably has not had an easier interception.

You could tell from Daks body language after the play it was three letters the first one is W I’ll leave the guessing as to the other 2.

When Cooper was here it was almost like you had to force the ball early into his hands keep him involved , interested . With 88 13 and Noah Brown it’s whoever is open distribute the passes then you have the three horsemen at TE . I’m liking this late season passing game .

As a receiver you have to fight for your spot, especially if it’s a route where he’s expected to be in a certain place on the field.. that’s why the interception looked the way it did.. happened in the game before this one. All you guys with the hidden agenda replies are comical.. I want to think that they know about football, but with some of the things they post makes me wonder and when I see those they more likely than not go on that wonderful mute feature we have.. lol.

Is the video from NFL football operations bunch of lies too?

Rule explanation at 38 and 53sec for the type of play discussed in this thread.

It was dpi. Should have been called. Go back and see for yourself. Still the ball should have not been thrown there.

Oh I saw it live, Daks throw was a bit behind, both guys had to virtually stop to go for it. Gallup and Gilmore both battled a typical battle for position and Gallup was on his butt. I think you’d have an argument if Gilmore had his back to the ball.
