When Gilmore took the outside position that he did, I simply don't see anything Gallup could have done to make the intended route work. As a QB, I simply come off that route when I see that coverage. k
Absolutely.

This is where Gilmore starts to grab the face mask. You can see MG's head is straight toward where he is running as it should be.

Then this is what happens after Gilmore grabs the facemasks. It's clear that Gilmore yanked on MG's facemask where MG's head has turned toward Gilmore due to the grabbing/pulling of the facemask.

So let's iron out this deception by Zman here.

First, here is the YouTube link of the play and replay I took the video from to see for yourself: LINK

Here is GIF1 showing the entirety of the 5-yard jam by Gilmore. Note that this GIF is 1 second long and Gilmore had his hands on Gallup's facemask for a little over half a second even at NBC's slowed down replay speed. Look at Gilmore's body language here. Why would he pull Gallup when his obvious objective is to push him inside? He does so with 2 hands and the left gets in Gallup's facemask but he still tries to push and is successful. Now see GIF2 below.

Gilmore-Gallup-GIF1.gif

In GIF2 here, I've frozen the video at 2 points. Point 1 is right before Gilmore contacts Gallup with the hand that gets in the facemask. Notice the tilt already in Gallup's head all on his own (not straight on as Zman deceptively showed in a later point in the video). Out the blocks, Gallup is trying to ward off Gilmore with his left hand and turns his head toward him to get his shoulder into it, and because he wants to run straight and not get pushed inside, so he wants his momentum back towards Gilmore. Gallup does his first jab as he takes a step with his left foot. Gilmore is winning the push, so Gallup takes a right step and loads up an even more violent left jab as he takes a left step again. This is Stop Point 2. I just showed you he turned his head toward Gilmore for jab 1 and does so again for jab 2, not as a result of a pull by Gilmore, because again look at Gilmore's body language. He's already content with his push and is backing off to sprint with Gallup. His hand is also already coming off Gallup's facemask at this point.

In GIF3, this is the NFL's video on what's a foul at the LOS, where a defender is beat from the get go and uses a grasp and control of the facemask to get back on point. I don't even have to ask if people see a difference here to GIF1 below. Stop the madness. Lol.

That's what you think happened?

In a freeze frame, sure it can look more egregious than it was. In real time, there is no control or twisting on the facemask to call it a facemask penalty.

And it's not hands to the face because Gilmore is also not reaching outside of Gallup's frame up at his face. In fact, Gilmore's arms extend straight out, maybe even slightly down. The only reason he gets Gallup's mask is because Gallup's chin is tucked over his knee as he should be doing to combat the expected press.

Gilmore is just getting his bump in within the 5 yards, and his hand happens to get Gallup's mask.
Hands to the face is a 5 yard penalty. No twisting even needed.

Hands to the face is a 5 yard penalty. No twisting even needed.

However, forcible contact IS needed. Did that happen here? Nope. The 5 yards part is correct.

RULE 12 PLAYER CONDUCT
SECTION 1 BLOCKING, USE OF HANDS AND ARMS

ARTICLE 7. ILLEGAL USE OF HANDS BY DEFENSE. It is a foul if a defensive player thrusts his hands or arms forward above
the frame of an opponent to forcibly contact him on the neck, face, or head.
Note: Contact in close-line play is not a foul, unless it is direct and forcible, or prolonged.
Penalty: For Illegal Use of Hands by the Defense: Loss of five yards and an automatic first down.

As a receiver you have to fight for your spot, especially if it’s a route where he’s expected to be in a certain place on the field.. that’s why the interception looked the way it did.. happened in the game before this one. All you guys with the hidden agenda replies are comical.. I want to think that they know about football, but with some of the things they post makes me wonder and when I see those they more likely than not go on that wonderful mute feature we have.. lol.

I was thinking same thing . Dak was like.

Thanks. I gotta to learn to make GIFs

I don’t know ZMAN well enough to try to interpret his intentions, but he’s definitely not seeing this right.

Nice try with your BS tricks. Put up slowmo version for both videos where the two plays look much closer. You'll see that the defenders on both videos grab on to the facemask for about the same amount of time.

Also, it figures you would skip the part from the NFL football operation video that said, "Any contact that is not incidental will be a foul". How convenient.

At 36 seconds.

Not surprised, since according to you, the refs are never wrong.

Chris Collinsworth played in a SB as a WR he should know of where he speaks when he says “ the receiver has to fight his way through that “ ….

If your not catching a contested throw then play defense prevent the PICK .

And Gallup to be honest is looking better and better every week .

Complete BS. My pic show the moment where Gilmore is about to grab the facemask and it clearly shows Gallup running straight with his head not turned. It's when the facemask gets grabbed his head starts to turn. There was enough force from Gilmore to make MG's head turn toward Gilmore and DOWNWARD. If it was just MG turning toward Gilmore to fend him off, he would not be looking down toward the turf but looking at Gilmore. The reason he is looking downward is because his head is being yanked downward and left by Gilmore.

What makes you think it was his first read
Nothing in my post or the post I replied to said it was his first read. What does that have to do with coming off that read. Whether it was his first or 4th does not change a thing on whether he should throw the pass or not.

Because it made it sound like to me he was staring him down. If I was wrong, forget it.
I actually makes a huge difference. If it was his final read, and he thought he was open he hast to release the football or throw it out of bounds so many people complain. Prescott holds the football he should throw it. And when he does it, they complain about how he throws it. He can’t win

This IS incidental. You just got busted with your still photo deception when video tells the entire story.

I got busted? LOL. Nice try using a slow motion video and then comparing it to another video at faster speed. Good trick to convince yourself refs are never wrong.
Why don't you put up a slomo version of MG's video? That will show clearly MG's head being turned and is much closer to the NFL video showing Amari facemasked.

And it's laughable to say that the contact was incidental. Grabbing a face mask where it forces the players head to get twisted is not incidental.

Lies, bro. Lies. This is PRECISELY why I used the start-stop GIF to show the exact point it happens and where Gallup's head is, which is toward Gilmore of his own accord as he tries to push back. You clearly used a snapshot later in the video as Gallup was striding to try to say, "Oh, look Gallup's head was straight at the very beginning." Nonsense. Video tells the whole story and exposed your lies. Gallup looked at him and downward the first time he tried to fend him off AND the second time. Watch. The. Video. Not some slanted still shot BS that you peddled with your "oh it must have been this ..." reasoning. Show what really happened the whole way.
