Looks like the pass rush will be terrible again. I have no faith that the Cowboys can even draft good pass rushers. Seems like the ones they do draft don't even pan out.

We're pretty clearly continuing with the 'build an 8 man rotation' plan like SEA did. Garrett said two offseasons ago that's what we'd be doing, and I don't think he was kidding.

What? I dont give a damn about Doug Free. I care about us trotting out the same pitiful defense.
The vitriol for Free is far more than anyone defensively. Nobody is going all foam at the mouth about re-signing Carr or Church.

Free is not that far off those players in terms of being replaceable.

They keep Free around due to his veteran status, same as say Church.

I think this team is looking for internal improvement and through draft reinforcements. I also suspect we'll sign veterans that can help at our number.
I still the think you will see Ware here. I think the price will be right for us. Ware also doesnt keep us from investing draft capitol in the position.

Ware will chase another ring together with Romo in Denver.

Why this is shocking to some of you, I don't understand.

It just shows we're not run by personnel guys at the top. They made a mockery of the OL years ago with their "get by" philosophy (supported here), finally did a 180 and got serious about it (supported here) and scored a home run and now they're going to allow a blue chip OG walk when they could easily slide Collins out to RT and have the best 5 they've had since the early 90's.

It's sickening to think about.

Wasn't implying that. Just the standard that exists.

In my eyes, players like Barry Church are just as expendable as Free is. But yet you still see a radical disparity in perception.

Free gives up a sack, everyone loses their mind. Barry Church is too slow to get to a catch point on 3rd and 13. Eh.

Both are problems that I don't understand why the team is reluctant to move on from. Perhaps it is a lack of confidence they can add a replacement.

We usually don't move on from anyone until it is a year or two too late.

Good organizations do the opposite.

Why the hell do you keep going on about Doug Free. I just told you 3 times my concern is on defense. You been smoking something?

No surprises here, when was the last time we were big spenders in FA?

I'm not saying our pass rush doesn't stink, but despite all the money spent on DL in NY, we had more sacks than the Giants. Large contracts aren't the answer to everything, and finding a stud DE isn't easy. We were #13 in the NFL. Number 32 will surprise most people.

Interesting yes, but it was more about the consistent pressure on the opposing QB then then it was about the actual sacks for us last year.

So Jaylon Smith's going to try to play with no nerve firing in his knee, if need be.

Big difference. Their rotation includes Avril and Bennett.
