Stephen Jones comments 2/28

Then again in this market, will someone give him starter money? Im not opposed to paying a relatively decent short term deal. In limited snaps, he is still a guy that is going to get around the edge consistently. And he is a guy yoy want around your younger lineman. But we wont sign him out of desperation. At this point, im not so sure another team wont

Big difference. Their rotation includes Avril and Bennett.

It's still what they've said they're trying to do.

Avril, though, came in at 2/$13MM, with a big year 2 bump when they originally singed him. He was a fringe deal like we often look to do.

Bennett, too, was only 4/$28MM, with a big year 2 bump before they redid his deal. Those guys weren't cap-busters.

Avril and Bennett were both better pass rushers than anything we have right now. And anything we'll pick up in this offseason.

These comments don't sound good at, lawwwd. It sounds like theyre seriously resigning to the fact that Jaylon will rock the brace.

And it also looks like our defensive upgrades our going to come from "development", sigh. Same bleep, different year.

Doug Free starting RT in 2017?

Great call Stephen. Another year of the designated guy helping the QB get up off the ground.

And you just gave away any and all leverage to negotiate that awful contract number down.

Well done.

Why this is shocking to some of you, I don't understand.

It's shocking because he is an enormous liability. Everyone knows it yet the FO is content to trot him out there to get beaten on every single snap

Exactly right.

The Cowboys are looking at guys that can play 300-500 snaps and are looking to pay them for that amount of playing time.

There you have it. Doug Free, starting RT, 2017.

He said he would get one if he could.

There were only about a half dozen 4-3 defensive ends that had double digit sacks last season and none of them are going to be available. Nobody close to a war daddy is going to be available in free agency.

I know bro. Was just making a funny. All the good choices are gone, except for 1 year wonder nick Perry.

I missed where we tried to make a living in the pass rush department in FA.

We're pretty clearly continuing with the 'build an 8 man rotation' plan like SEA did. Garrett said two offseasons ago that's what we'd be doing, and I don't think he was kidding.

This defense is like 5 drafts away from even being close to Seattle.

Ware will chase another ring together with Romo in Denver.

Ware doesn't want to play in a 4-3. He said during Super Bowl week that he preferred to stay in a 3-4 defense.
