Lets be real you need to use FA and overpay a FEW guys... i mean the patritots did it when they brought over Revis... Broncos with Ware talib... The list goes on...

Just a matter of the right guys filling those right needs... Honestly we should bring in a big Pass rush FA or a lockdown corner.. If we can have one of those sign me up

I was about to start a thread on this recently. Will we wait out the storm like the past couple of years and let the flurry die down, or will we go in hard at the beginning?

I can only take so much of the Selvies, and no names anymore. This team needs talent! If you have to pay, you have to pay!

So true..

In before this ain't Madden after watching Denver just buy a Super Bowl.

I think that a lot of FA players just crossed Dallas off their list.

I must admit, blokes, there was a time that I wanted Stephen to speak up more, be more active in personnel and take a leadership role. Well that phase of my life passed.

Denver did how many others have done the same only to crash and burn. I wish it was that simple to go out and buy players in FA and win it all but more times than not it does not happen. I think a big mistake that happens every year is people point to this year SB team and think this is how you do it yet it is often a different story each year. I hope Dallas does pick up a top player in FA heck who knows with Von Miller about to cash in who is to say Ware would not return to Dallas?

At this stage, he is an echo chamber for his father and is starting to talk a lot and say nothing.

Next come the lip smacks.

Sounds to me that he is going conservative in free agency. I don't see anything there about how he views what is on the team and talent on it now.

At this point with a huge draft for us on the horizon..

I doubt he tips what rhey want to do.

And numerous guys hitting FA in the weeks ahead..

they may hold the cap spending until after the first wave of cuts set the market.

It would make sense.

If they have a few guys targeted..

they would be smart to wait.

And if they don't spend all their cap this year..

Does any of it roll to next year?

We've see Washington and Philly due this in our own division many times. Remember the dream team in Philly that crashed and burned?
The key with Denver however is that they had good drafts and filled in the pieces. They didn't rely on Ware to come in and be "the guy". They added him to balance out the stud in Von Miller. Same for Talib, etc.

Our problem is we try to bring in "the guy" and think we are set there and expect 15 sacks, or 10 ints. Even stars need help. And we need stars as we have only 1 IMO on defense in Lee, and 2 on offense (outside of Oline) in Romo and Dez.

Now let's start a 10+ page thread where half the people say Jones is a cheap ******* who overvalues what he has on the team and the other half saying he's going to be a stupid idiot and overpay for players just to try to get Romo a ring.

Better yet, lets start a boring thread about what a great person he is off the field and then cry to anyone that wants to talk real football.

I'm just saying people always want to imitate the last year’s winner, every year it is the same thing over and over. Dallas did sign some key FA last year one was Dez Bryant that did not come at a cheap price. We added Hardy and according to this board that was a great move. I'm all in favor of being active in FA but doing so wisely not just trying to buy a championship. I think Dallas should focus on defense both in the draft and FA. I’m still one though that believes in using the 4th to address the future of this team which is why I still advocate getting a top QB with the 1st pick.

I agree, I think Weddle can be had at a fair price. I don't expect him to get a payday you would hand out to a player in the prime of his career he is on the downhill side of it and the contract should reflect that.

Weddle is going to generate enough interest to drive his price into a significant pay scale. Teams like the Steelers, Giants and even New England will show enough interest to give his agent some leverage in negotiations. I'm not against signing a guy like Weddle but I'd have a number in my head (if I were the Jones') and I'm not moving off of it regardless of where negotiations go.

Hardy was a 1year prove it deal. He didn't even make his 13 million with the suspension and all the escalators so think again.

The point is that they got into the FA game with Hardy and got average results. We got a hell of a lot less out of Hardy that we paid for. That's the only line of thinking required. It's not rocket surgery.

Novel idea this year for the Cowboys, instead of getting the RKG for Garrett how about getting guys that can make a difference from free agency.

And he might just go away.

Meanwhile, here we are with Brandon Carr, the last of the 2012 free agent bonanza.

Carr, Livings, Bernadeau, Orton, Vickers, Connor--then trading up for Claiborne. Just frightening.
