I haven't read anywhere that Freeney is off the table.

Ever wonder why Arizona didn't want Freeney back since he was cheap??? He doesn't like camp, he's getting up there
in age, he's really only a 3rd down option at this point and probably available for 15 or less plays a game and doesn't do
special teams. I just can't see the fascination and I don't think Garrett does either for a restricted part-time player.

Freeney was signed when the Cards lost Okafor. Further, the Cards traded for Chandler Jones in March, so they don't need Freeney at this point. Freeney was only a fill in when the Cards lost Okafor. Now that he's back and they have added Jones, they don't need a plug in guy anymore. I bet if Jones or Okafor or another OLB got hurt, and Freeney were out there, they'd bring him back.

The fascination is simple. This team was anemic in the sack department last year. Not only did they fail to bring in any DE that has a track record of being able to generate sacks, they rid themselves of Hardy, they don't have Lawrence for 4 games and they don't have Gregory for 10 games. So it's quite easy to see the fascination. A team that was average to poor at rushing the passer last year is heading into the season without 3 guys that most fans viewed as their best pass rushing ends.

I just hate this starting an argument over again with you cause we are never going to agree. Stephen just said that they like and are comfortable with the guys they have at DE and Marinelli will coach them up. I know this just kills you but, the Cowboys FO seems to be in my corner not yours.
Now don't go away mad...just go away and pester someone else.

We only need him for 15 fresh 3rd downs a game, so we can get off the field. Arizona doesnt need him because they traded for Chandler Jones.

I am not mad.

Actually I find it amusing, on so many levels.

We don't need him...Mayowa and Irving will do just fine for 4 games.

Freeney is not an option right now as he has no interest in camp

Freeney enters the picture if they dont feel they can generate a consistent pass rush with who they have.

Freeney isnt out of the picture, but he isnt in it yet

The team isn't going to get Freeny. They don't want him. He is ancient by NFL DE standards.

At this point in his career, he is a bit of a one-trick-pony with his spin move. Teams will have noticed that the majority of his pressures came off of that move and will coach their LT's to watch for it. He can't get the edge like he used to, although he tries over and over (which eventually got him a sack here or there on his counter off of that which is his spin-move).

He won't surprise offenses with it this year as much.

Freeny just wouldn't be a solution for Dallas. I'm behind the team not panicking and paying a hundred year old guy to just get a name people know.

He's been using that spin move successfully for over a decade, and now they're suddenly going t figure it out and stop it?

Yeah...

Yeah...

Yes because that's all he has now. He can't get the edge and he can no longer power his way to the QB. That's about all he's got now. When he could threaten the edge, that counter spin move put OL in a bind. It isn't that way anymore.

But we don't need to go further than this. I know you are for these types of signings and I'm just not. We won't agree on this. I understand how you feel... I just feel differently.

No problem with disagreeing, I'd just like to point out that his 'one-trick' still managed to get him 8 sacks in 11 games which would have tied him for this team"s lead last season.

How is that a pass rusher hint?

Maybe he should have put a question mark instead of a colon. I just got thought watching the press conference and both Stephen and Jason made generic mentions that they are always looking to add talent. Neither was specifically talking about filling or having a need.

We will apparently be adding a couple of players to our camp roster because we have two spots open. They said players are coming in for workouts in the morning, but it doesn't sound like it should be anyone significant. Stephen Jones said one will probably be a linebacker since Rolando is one of the players who did not report, but said the other might not be a defensive end (Gregory's spot).

Yeah, and how is the coaching up this year going to be any different than the failures the past couple seasons.
