I'm trying to figure out who this could be. Dwight Freeny makes way too much sense, can't be him. Maybe we'll bring Hatcher out of retirement.

I'll throw out a name....Terrell Suggs. Just because he's up in age and salary....And the Ravens drafted Kamalei Correa.

They are pretty deep w/ pass rushers...someone is gonna go..

Terrell Suggs
Kamalei Correa
Bronson Kaufusi
Za'Darius Smith
Matt Judon
Elvis Dumervil
Victor Ochi

they didn't talk a lot about the defense was to busy talking about the offense and how great it was and also the star jerry really got hyped about that didn't want to talk about the suspensions at all tried to make every thing was all positive this season will not be like last year will empty the bucket with the players they have wont be expecting players to come back to help out

Punctuation is your friend.

I doubt Suggs could function in this system as a down lineman.

We are probably more liable to look at players like Judon and Ochi and then sell that they are more unmined diamonds like Benson Mayowa.

We are clever like that.

Those clever signings pays off year after year. Just look at the sack totals for all teams and you can see the results.

He had 8 sacks in 11 games last year. That's almost 12 sacks over a 16 game season. So to say he just got a random sack or there is selling him short. And if his spin move is so easy to pick up, why did he have 8 sacks in 11 games? He's used the same move for years.

Again, people are creating this strawman that people think Freeney is some dominant edge rusher. No one has suggested that. But to start the season, your DE depth chart of Mayowa, Irving, Russell and Tapper have 2.5 sacks................ TOTAL.............. IN THEIR CAREERS.

People really are totally underestimating how anemic this pass rush could be to start the year.

That's a crap argument tho. How do you expect them to get more sacks if you want to delegate them to the bench and not trust them to get sacks when you don't wanna give them playing time to get those sacks. Tapper is a rookie and Russell basically is too so that's some weak cherry picked mess man

Because Freeny wasn't a starter... or even close to being a starter. Opposing OL didn't prepare for him like they do the guy who is going to be across from them all day.

Like I said earlier, he caught a few guys off guard with that move (which is still quick I admit) because he rushes up the field play after play and then suddenly, counters off of that with his spin back inside. I think coaches will tell left tackles to watch for it this year... particularly if he came in and tried to play as a starter. I don't think he will have the success this season as he did last year on a talented Arizona defense.

When he was younger, guys had to worry about his outside rush so much that they couldn't guard against the spin move like they should have or he would beat them outside. Now, he can't really get the corner on his outside rush, so as long as OT's don't fall asleep at the wheel they should be able to stop his spin move if they're ready for it.

I'm not saying I'm right... I'm saying that this is my thought process when trying to decide if I want to pay a 36 year old speed rusher to come in and save the day at WDE.

That little spin move is a play. Freeney won the Green Bay game with it. To me, a game won on a play alone is worth the "pay". When I look around this roster and see the money wasted, it becomes an easier decision.

There's reason for some excitement for the young DL. But they are unproven. We have a bunch of potential and not a lot proven commodities like T Crawford or Thornton.
Collins gets back, D Law comes back, Mayowa heals up. With T Crawford, J Crawford, and Thornton, you have a good idea of what you are going to get. So you are looking for someone out of Tapper, Russell, Irving to step up. Is it largely unproven? Yes. But this is no preseason 2014 situation. There is much more talent here now on the d line. We sure will see. I am ok with the what we have. A lot of young hungry players. The oldest guy is what 27? No bad contracts either.

I agree but we still have very little NFL experience in that group. Not total unknowns but relative so. We'll see.

If this staff can coach up cast off pile players and field a relevant defense...I'm very curious what they can do with journeymen, who have fresh legs and a ton of ego.

Maybe he should try spinning in a different direction . . . yeah, that's the ticket. (At this point, I'd take anyone who had 8 sacks last year.)

Thirty-six years old or not, I think Freeney would only be used part-time as a pass rusher and no more. Heck, some of us could handle it.
Heck yeah , for 1 mil or 1/2 mil, I would be out there today !! I would probably be sacked myself way more that I sack the qb , but
hey I would also not smoke weed , or play paint ball with no goggles, and for that kind of money I would
even tell JG he is a great coach !! Heck I would even tell jerry he is the best GM, just has had some bad luck is all.

Like cyndi lauper said, money changes everything.........except for Rolando, and gregory and some others around the league.

You don't need him to save the day. You need him to come in, play on 3rd downs and rush the passer. No one is asking him to come in and be a starting DE and play 45 snaps a game.

He'll likely cost a $1MM or so based with sack incentives like he had in Arizona last year. That's absolutely worth it.

Again, Freeney had almost 4 times the number of sacks last year at age 36 with apparently a pretty weak pass rush move that everyone has figured out than Irving, Mayowa, Russell and Tapper have in their entire careers..........
True, and I may be wrong, but denver paid ware a lot more money, and he was basically a passing down only guy.
He was rotated in and out, and I dont know how many sacks he wound up with each of his 2 years there.

It is like Ricky proel sp? he was older wr, who would only come in occasionally, usually 3rd down, but would get open, and catch the pass!
Those type players, the plays they do make, can wind up helping a team win a few games they otherwise lose.

I think dallas may be a little carried away with having young players, (except tony and witten lol) and I think Frenney
might be a good deal.
The only thing I would ask is why did Arizona not resign him again??

lol no way that happens unless Garrett and Hardy have a long sit down. what do you think the chances of that happening?

Possible,TC has started and Hardy is unsigned. Maybe this can sink in Hardy head but JJ needs to stay out the discipline mix. JG needs to have a sit down and let him know what he needs and don't want. But to be honest I doubt it. The Cowboys are old in their ways. It's kinda like if they haven't sign him now then don't bother, especially with all the negative press.

It's pretty evident that the Cowboys are going to spend some time evaluating the DE's that
are currently in camp. If these guys spit the bit then, McClay will pull up his list of Selvie
impersonators and start buying bus tickets to Oxnard.

There is some inside information that both Mickey and Broaddus allude to on air. There is no way Mr. Hardy ever sees a Cowboy uniform again...ever!!!
