He's a .500 coach. Up until now, people have made excuses for him. And that's fine.

But if this team can't make the playoffs in 2016 that would mean Garrett has led the Cowboys to 1 playoff appearance in 6 years. In a lot of places, that gets you fired.

I think the Jones family is trying to convince themselves Garrett is a great coach because Garrett plays by the Jones' rules.

This site has been butt sore for so long, I'm at least going to watch his direction this season. Before the clamor recently, I came out and said that Jason was on the spot to produce right now...but at least I will watch before attempting to nail him on a cross.

He shouldn't be a .500 coach with a QB like Tony Romo. No NFL coach should.

You know it's weird I don't think he's a good coach but having the continuity is nice and he has the players respect whatever that's worth

This may be off topic, and it will never, ever happen, but I would love to see a hard knocks with Jason at the wheel.

What the hell is the water or scotch in Texas that the Jones are drinking? The Jones are in serious denial. They must never be sober before opening their mouths. I always respected Stephen and thought he had "common sense". Lately, he has been a big disappointment and the Texas Media isn't even questioning his thought process. I am afraid that we may be stuck with JG for 4 more long years. Romo and Witten will retire with nothing but the fact that they made a ton of money playing pro football. Sad state of affairs.

So you agree with my point that if Garrett fails to make the playoffs again this season, his job status should be in question?

Stephen Jones: Jason Garrett's turning into a great coach; 'he's the hardest worker in the building'
http://sportsday.***BANNED-URL***/d...s-turning-great-coach-hardest-worker-building

Before Bill Belichick led the New England Patriots to four Super Bowl victories, he spent five seasons as head coach in Cleveland. The Browns were a combined 36-44 in the regular season and 1-1 in the playoffs during that time.

Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones recently referenced the early part of Belichick's career while answering a question about Jason Garrett.

In five and a half seasons as the Cowboys head coach, Garrett has compiled a 45-43 regular season record and a 1-1 postseason mark.

"First of all, I think Jason is one of the up and coming coaches in this league. We're fortunate to have him," Jones said Friday morning on CBS Sports Radio's Tiki and Tierney Show. "I think obviously Jason went through some growing pains. If you look at some of the great coaches in this league, I mean, Belichick's first stop was not necessarily what we think of when you think of Bill Belichick.

"[Garrett] has all the skillsets, it's just a matter of getting seasoned and I think he's at that point. ... I do think he's turning into a great football coach. I just think he's come so far. I think it's all in front of him and he's only going to get better."...
Oh my..

comparing him to Belichek is a disserice to Belichek.

Garrett can't develop a backup QB..

he can't call the plays..

his game managment has cost us numerous games..

he's not allowed to pick his assistant coaches..

and he's like a coach who has appeared in 6 SBs?

What is Stephen drinking?

I'd like some of that.

There's no proof of that and the record for Jason and why it is reasonable were both provided...
That's why I referred to it as lipstick on a pig.
It's utter hogwash.
Garrett sucks and anyone trying to say otherwise is blatantly uninformed or delusional.
He sucks.

You don't feel that the Cowboys are deserving right back up there with the likes of New England?

If one believes that he can become over the same period of time that also applied to Tom Landry, the why not expect the best as well?
