I'll give blue print for success: score more than the other team. It's that simple.

Unfortunately, it's not.

We put up 48 on the Broncos and lost - in the history of the NFL it has only happened twice before.
We've lost two Divisional playoff games against the Packers including scoring 31 points this year because we couldn't get a stop.
The Giants meanwhile averaged giving up just 14 PPG in two Super Bowl runs.

I don't think anybody's expecting Doomsday - but how about we please at least try to improve the defense.

If anything the past few drafts should tell you that the Cowboys will take who they feel is the best value/fit for there team.
Stephen isn't giving anything that isn't public knowledge. Nothing to see here.

And the homers that keep drinking the Koolaid are just as delusional

Just because we know the philosophy by heart it doesn't mean it is now beyond criticism

Those 2 playoff wins sure speak very loudly about how consistent we are in our mediocrity

We know it's not Koolaid, because we can see the explicit improvement in the quality of players and results on the field over the time period in question.

And nobody said the philosophy is beyond criticism. Only that this particular criticism is bad. We're not consistently mediocre, though, and the fact that you're trying to build your argument around the idea that we are suggests why you and I are never going to be on the same page on this topic.

being better than McClain shouldn't be the bar

Paea may be better and cheaper but are there 20 other DTs that are better than Paea and shouldn't we want them instead

The Cowboys base salary at positional slots.
It's OK to disagree with that of course but what's the last time we felt a 1T was the key to anything here?
Dallas doesn't believe that 2 down position is worth a lot of money. They feel there are more bodies for that job than there are jobs.

They liked Paea because he's strong as heck and knows the system.
We don't ask out 1T to move much at all, just hold ground.
Then we bring in a pass rusher on passing downs.

boy, an odd time to toss that out....
13-3 and one of youngest teams in the league.
this is the best time to sip cowboys kool-aid there's been since 1990.

No kidding, the same critics did not give this team a snowballs chance in hell of doing anything last year and even though this team exceed all expectation somehow people will continue to slam them. This team has a lot of work ahead of them to achieve the goals they have but I think they are on the right path to get there

  • Coaching: Cowboys came out flat, fat, and lazy.
  • we should have won the Green Bay game but lost due to inexperience, intangibles, and coaching
  • Atlanta would have stomped us
well hard to say, but it is about matchups. and they might have been able with good coaching to handle atlanta.

I disagree with this assessment. I think it's arguable that there were only a few better than Paea on the market. Not that Paea is a pro bowler or anything. It wasn't that strong a market.

you are the problem

accepting last season as some huge success and not demanding improvement

now we get the 1st place schedule, the worse draft picks and the Super Bowl press clippings

I have seen this movie before.......now was not the time to be fiscally conservative
