I just became ill.
Why, it's not like he got that. The guaranteed money is what's important.

Maybe franchise, but I would say NO to a long term deal.
I love Murray. I do. But he's not as good as McCoy or AP and I wouldn't pay him anywhere close to their contracts.
Really?
When you see two players bracketing Dez on the LOS like they were in punt return formation?
The Jets signed Chris Johnson for 2 years at $4 mil per year.
Murray isn't worth more than that.
And I don't know if I would even offer him $3.5 mil per season.
Knowshon got $3.5 million last off season and he is a much better all around back then either of those 2.
Murray is also only 26, so signing him to a 2 to 3 year deal would make sense. I just dont Dallas will be able to compete financially with what he will draw on the open market.

Not entirely.
The damage it did to the salary cap wasn't helpful either.
I'm admittedly not the best with Cap considerations. Does not guaranteed money after a player is cut affect the cap for the next year?
Yep, and that's why I hope the Cowboys use some discipline when it comes to dealing with Murray.
Personally I don't think they would go more than 4 years.
I care more about the years then the money. If they give him an extra mill per year than they should have its not the end of the world.
But even 4 scares me given his lingering durability issues.
Well Dallas being Dallas or should I say Jerry, I doubt they go "small" with Murray.
I would guess a 4 year deal in the neighborhood of $26 mil with $10 of it guaranteed.
and that would put him in the top 10 RB and why shouldn't he be paid as a top 10?
That's probably what Dallas will do, that's not what I would do... I'd offer 3 years at $17 mil with $7 mil guaranteed.

Then you lose more Cap space. Not smart.
I don't expect him to get the avg salary of Peterson at 14 mill or the avg of McCoy at 9 mill. I do expect him to get a fair offer. People talk about the injury yet McCoy missed quite a few games early in his career as well. What I see is Dallas has invested in a very good OL I think it is smart to invest in a RB who can take advantage of that OL just as Smith did. Murray has good quickness and he has power, good coming out of the backfield and is a good blocker and I think it would be a bit foolish to low ball him because some are set in their opinion this is a passing league yet we just watched the SB champ prove otherwise not to mention 49ers another team who ran more than they threw the ball. There is still a place in this league for teams with great running attacks and if anything it only makes their passing game that much better as safety are forced to come up to play the run.
I loved Irvin comment Tenn doubled Dez and the Cowboys said fine we will shove Murray down your throat.
