9.5 million this year for RB.

Ryan Williams says hello. He needs a new contract also, but signed for a half million on his one year contract with us this year and shouldn't have a big asking price for next year. We'll also have Randle, Dunbar and whoever else we bring in.

We could use the difference (say 8 million) to sign a free agent, like a safety or defensive end who is a stud. Or both.

Ah no other team in the nfl has said hello back to ryan williams and stays on our practice squad for a reason.

Matt Forte signed a 4 year / $30.40 million contract with the Chicago Bears, including a $4,000,000 signing bonus, $13,800,000 guaranteed, and an annual average salary of $7,600,000.

Look at the numbers posted below, which I was basing my my information off of.

I would be perfectly fine with 6 to 7 mil per year for Murray

I can't believe he typed that.

There are running backs out there that are still getting paid: Charles, Forte, McCoy. Demarco is in that category.

Exactly. Chris Johnson isn't a example of guys getting paid. Chris Johnson is an example of a small back who elite speed is averaging 3 yards a carry.

If you think running game does not matter, I think teams are seeing a new value on running and have been seeing a lot of running thus far in the NFL. It is a copy cat league and 2 top teams in the NFL both are running teams and it can and does win in this league.

Does this mean the back has to be highly paid? I don't think so.

The key is to have an identity established offensively that features a running game, not necessarily a RB.

we don't know what Murray wants
I'd offer four year five million average

This is fair.

The question is: Do the Cowboys want to build around the horses they have on the o-line and establish a running mentality? If so, then they may pay him a fair wage. If they believe that success revolves around a franchise QB, then they may let him walk if he does not take a less than fair offer.

And with our cap situation I think it is wisest to let Demarco walk and take our chances on what we have, including Ryan Williams, who may be quite adequate indeed. Beast.

He can't block or has shown little ability to do so. Maybe he will develop who knows but right now he is not close to being the all around back of Murray.

Yep, and that's why I hope the Cowboys use some discipline when it comes to dealing with Murray.

Personally I don't think they would go more than 4 years.

4 years would be a leap of faith but if they intent to commit to the run schematically then it might be worth the investment if it was for no more than $5 mil per year.

The other side of the equation is that perhaps this team needs to start extending these players when they are in their 2nd or 3rd year. If the talent is recognized early, then lock em up.

No need to wait until they are in their final year, ala Dez

The problem is you don't know if they are going to develop nagging injuries. If you remember, Murray barely played his first two years or so. You can't sign a guy to a new contract when he gets injured that often, no matter how talented. They needed to wait and see if he could consistently stay healthy, which he started doing last year and must do again this year. Dez is a little different, since his injuries never kept him out an extended period, so I agree there.

Sure, let's talk Murray, when we have Dez we still have to pay. Murray is the guy teams fear, not Dez.

Underpaid market? top RB are paid McCoy makes 9 mill a year Peterson of course make more than all the RB at 14 million a year, the position still hold value despite what some of you think. Talent gets paid that is the fact I don't care what position. Avg guys can be had at basement bargin price talent the thing that helps teams win the thing many of you claim we don't have cost money.

I love Murray. I do. But he's not as good as McCoy or AP and I wouldn't pay him anywhere close to their contracts.
