Thought this was an interesting nugget from DC.com:

McCarthy, like Jones, did not want to speculate on the Cowboys' upcoming plans at left tackle. But he did say that 60% of Tyler Smith's practice reps in the offseason program were at tackle, not guard.

Dak will suffer the most along with this running game, I like Tyler but he is not ready yet.

Again, the last thing I want to do is stand up for the Jones's. After all, there is so much justified criticism.

However.....

If I am going to fairly criticize them then I have to look at everything to be balanced, even the rare occasions when they actually got something right, or most likely hired somebody who got something right.

What is their track record when it comes to drafting offensive linemen in the 1st round lately?

This is the one subject, a rare one indeed, in which perhaps the Jones's have earned the right to be optimistic about their decision to start Tyler Smith at LT. It's not going to be pretty for a period of time that we all hope will be a short one. .However, if he perseveres then the Dallas Cowboys have, once again, a dominant career LT.

When we use an OL as a TE who will it be?

If Smith goes to tackle, McGovern plays guard, which OL plays FB?

I mean even if Tyler Smith does turn out to be a good tackle, we still also need another backup tackle because Josh Ball sucks
True, I would still feel better signing Peters to be Smith's backup. I just don't think Ball could handle it and Dak would get killed.

Ball does suck....and then you have McGovern at starting LG which elevates the suckage on the OL. This thing is going into the dumper faster than i expected.

This is the plan. Let's hope the young man can handle it.

The only way it is not Tyler starting at left tackle is if his ankle injury is worse then they are saying. Tyler looked good walking on the sidelines.

This man just inspires so much confidence. Wow, we are so blessed.

in other words, we like to keep our 20M and not spend it, we are worth 8B, we will compromise the season and call it rebuilding, draft a LT next year and say we are changing things, sell hope again and oh wow, we are now worht 8.5B

We didn’t do anything with the first group so maybe we deserve this. Football Gods are punishing us for not at the very least getting to a NFC championship game with that group.
It scary to think between 2014 thru 2016 we did not get to one NFCCG with that offensive line but the Bengals went to the Super Bowl with that mess of a line last season. Hmmmm……..

I’m not sure why all the speculation after Tyron went down. Tyler has always been the plan. Kid has monster talent
I think at end of season people on here gonna be slobbering all over the guy saying he’s a future HOFer at LT
Jmo
He was a penalty machine in college at LT. Hence why he was going to be used at G. To eliminate penalties. You can believe what Stephen is saying and thats fine. Thats your right. However. What bothers me most is. Why is Stephen talking about whos starting, and roster cut downs? Isnt that the coaches job?
