Stephen can say what he wants, but it seems to me that the main reason he's adamant upon starting Tyler Smith at LT is because he's really concerned with saving his team's 20 million cap dollars to sign Parsons and Diggs to big contracts in 2023. To be totally honest, I can't really say as I blame him too much for that, since they'll both be such crucial signings for that season. If truth be told, I'd say he's simply quite reluctant to admit as much.
essentially Stevie is willing 2 risk Daks health by this failed tactic. Its really shameful. He can redeem himself if they get a guy. But he wont.

I think Tyler Smith is the right play. He was drafting with the idea of replacing Tyron at some point so why not just accelerate the plan? Of course he would be perfect out there. But that would be true if he shifted to the position a year from now too. Let him play and get better. I have always believe it is not how they start but how they finish.

I can't really argue with that idea. He's, seemingly, willing to risk a potential injury to Dak, in the hope that Tyler Smith will be able to handle something that he's probably somewhat ill-prepared for at this point. At least, it would seem so.

It appears there aren't any sure-fired candidates to handle that LT spot, either, unless a good deal unexpectedly turns up, once the final cuts are made. It'll take a miraculous stroke of luck for anyone to pop up, just at the right time. I guess we'll see about it when the time comes.

Tyler Smith at LT is a no duh for me, but why didn't they get him some snaps at LT this training camp and preseason?

Terrence Steele at LT would be the second obvious option.

Maybe he adheres to Jerry's idea: "You don't need a good OL if you have a mobile QB."

He got some snaps at LT in OTAs but then McCarthy came out at the start of regular camp and said they likely made a mistake giving him that many snaps, instead he should have been taking reps at LG. They had zero intention of Smith ever playing LT this year, even for a game or two if Tyron got nicked up. Their plan was that Ball or Waletzko would be a suitable backup LT and play in those inevitable 2-3 games Tyron would miss due to nagging injuries.

Smith getting hurt for the entire season and Ball struggling have turned their world upside down.

They drafted Tyler Smith to replace Tyron Smith at LT.
The issue is that he is a rookie

T Smith (B)
McGovern (C+)
Biadasz (C-)
Martin (A+)
Steele (B)

Yes, it would be nice to add a "B" at LT (and that is all we can get) and then move Smith inside where he would be a B+ or A- at OG this one year.

Steele is good at RT, but I still have concerns with Biadasz at Center.

Here we go with that Jones spin. They projected Tyler as a LG and worked him there exclusively. Prior to Tyron's injury young Tyler was viewed as a backup LG...now Stephen spins it like it's nothing for him to play LT when they didn't believe in him enough even to cross train him at LT over Josh Ball???

I know they kinda have no choice, but the Joneses act like they have it all figured out when it's clear they winging it.

Smith at LT is the right move.
We used a 1st rounder on him for that very reason

We used a first rounder on him to play LG for a couple of seasons to then hopefully replace Tyron at LT down the road.

They didn't use a first rounder on him to play LT as a rookie at all this year.

Stephen and his dad are so comfortable. They have no real desire to win. They’d like it, but they’re so content and don’t really care even if they think they do.

I think Tyler is at high risk of injury being put in this position. I still think they better find a veteran player if able because, if and when Tyler goes down, then what? I also hope Dak has been honing his ability to get rid of the ball as quickly as possible. I think Dak is going to take check downs to a whole new level this season. I think we can all agree there are going to be some serious growing pains going on.

I think Farniok is markedly better than Tyler B at Center. I agree.

Exactly. We BADLY need a proven tackle.

Jerry Jones and the rest of them are officially on crack. They sit around and talk themselves into some of the worst ideas I've ever seen.

Like playing McGovern at center when we already have 2 good centers. Really weird.
