If a good one falls to us, they should pull the trigger. Or if we like someone like Zach mettenberger or a Derek Carr; we can get one in the3rd

While some will overreact to comments like this..

I for one couldn't be more happy to hear this.

This year to me would be the year to actually do it.

Its going to take at least another 2 years to groom a new QB just to be #3.

By that time, Orton will be gone..Romo will or won't be back to being a top QB.

And whether or not Romo is or is not..

..if the Cowboys do improve over the next couple of years..

..we are going to be seeded higher and higher in the draft and a top pick will not be there to then pull the trigger.

This to me..if this franchise has learned anything about the past..

you can't wait to find your next QB.

The time is now..the investment would be worth the rewards.

From Romo to Garappolo.

I hope Jerry doesn't draft this guy just because he and Tony went to the same school, but I can hear Jerry now trying to spin it up like we just drafted the next Romo.

The notion of drafting a QB this year started last year after the draft. I'm not surprised one bit at this news. That being said I don't want one until day 3.

Is there any quarterbacks in this draft that can stuff the run or rush the QB? If not,we don't need him.

You've gotta be kidding. What has he shown you that suggests we should draft him? He has prototypical size is about it. He is one of the most inaccurate QBs there is, and makes stupid decisions at an alarming rate.

Garoppolo, Fales, Murray if you're looking for a QB in the 4-6 round range.

I'd be all for Murray. I think he drops b/c of the knee. Could be cheap and get a year to develop and learn the system.

Logan Thomas in the 5th, let's go!

I think some team team will take a chance on him in the 3rd or 4th once he shows off his physical gifts at the combine. A team like Arizona perhaps.

Jimmy Garappolo will be a Dallas Cowboy.

From Romo to Garappolo.

Not if the Saints don't scoop him up first. Word is Sean Payton loves him (his alma mater as well).

He looks like a nice, young prospect though. Arm strength isn't great but his mechanics, footwork, and quick delivery are arguably the best in the draft.

The Romo-ites will be in shock for a while.

seriously though, here's where Jerry finds that 2nd day gem (in round 2) that's a can't miss. All so they can save a couple Mil on Orton.

Anyone that backs Romo knows we need a QB probably this year or next. We can't make the mistake when we had Aikman and no one waiting in the the wings.

All of the Romo haters have seemed to forgotten those bleak days. Lol. :)

Well, the team does have other pressing needs, but if a good QB is there for the taken, they better pull the trigger. Romo is damaged goods. Hopefully Romo heals, but, those back surgery's are a mess.

Definitely something that can't be ignored...

Personally- I think this is the year to nab a QB if a very good one falls into your lap.
That would be an ideal situation. Someone with real talent that can be groomed.
But I don't believe this the year that a QB HAS to be taken.
Let opportunity fall into your lap- so to speak.

Otherwise- Next year would be fine also- given the current QB and financial situation on the position.
Depending on Romo's health, of course.

I think they can be patient for one more year and see if something they might not have expected happens, but not be upset if it doesn't and continue to build the team.
No need to force the issue... yet.

I didn't forget.
I drank til the entire era was blacked out.
Fair enough?

He needs to work on accuracy and mechanics.

Who is going to help him improve that? Wade Wilson?

Logan Thomas in the 5th, let's go!

This post got 3 likes? There are 4 people on this board, let alone the entire world, that actually like Thomas?

That guy is awful. He's worse than awful. He's not even worth picking up as an UDRFA

I would consider it a wasted pick to draft a QB after the second. The chances are very slim that a late round QB pick will ever be anything other than a career backup at best. The chances of getting a Tom Brady are a million to one. I would rather see Dallas bite the bullet and invest in a top prospect that can replace Romo in a couple of years.
