I would consider it a wasted pick to draft a QB after the second. The chances are very slim that a late round QB pick will ever be anything other than a career backup at best. The chances of getting a Tom Brady are a million to one. I would rather see Dallas bite the bullet and invest in a top prospect that can replace Romo in a couple of years.
If the goal is to get a "franchise QB" you might be right. But I don't even think more than a handful of "franchise QBs" exist the space of a decade and most of the time they are taken at the top or near the top of the draft.
But limiting yourself to the first two rounds and then saying forget it is not smart either. Wilson, Foles and Cousins seem like they have long term starting potential and they were all selected in the third and fourth rounds.
