Expectations must be really stinkin' low if they're happy about things so far. Jerry must be awful easy to please these days.

They're very excited that Dak is going to save the season.

This is a very comfortable position for Jerry as he learned last year. There's no pressure to win without Romo.

Losing Romo as soon as they did this season? I think the pressure should be tremendous. Unless Jerry expects a poor showing due to last seasons results after Romo went down. Its kind of how I have approached the past 10 seasons. I stopped getting mad at all the losing and it helped lower my blood pressure. It also helped me realize that its just entertainment and my life didn't revolve around the team. They win a game... I'm happy. They lose 1... whatever.

Just wondering how exactly did they exceed expectations?
You are just being softened up for another 4-12 season..

that Garrett will clap his hands over..

and call it "part of the process."

Garrett has to be worried sick about his job right now.

Another losing season and he's gone.

If Garrett doesn't immediate show success that he can handle adversity with DAK..

the fans are going to want a change.

With his record over the past 5 and half seasons and still being able to retain his job? I don't think Garrett is the least bit worried. Losing Romo again only gave him another excuse. He's the safest coach in all of professional sports. Maybe even more than Belicheat.

The first team defense was substantially better than i expected given what they had at DE. Prescott had a stellar preseason...the remainder of the offense did what was expected.

What exceeded my expectations

Irving has improved as an edge player winning against OT at a high rate.
McClain stayed healthy.
Mayowa looks quick with precise handwork.
Okoye came out of nowhere.
Nzeocha looks physical and athletic.
Brown looks much better than a 6th rounder.
Carr looks stronger and it shows in his tackling
Claiborne stayed healthy and has been excellent in coverage.
Dak Prescott!
Morris looks in great shape and primed for a good year
K Smith is a physical blocker.
DJ has better vision than I expected.
Witten shows no sign of decline and is making completions deep again.
Escobar not only recovered from his achilles early but looks stronger
Swaim has improved his game all around.
Gathers flashed in his limited opportunities.
Collins looks even stronger.
Free too.
Green's steady improvement.
Looney's functional strength.
TWill looks more explosive out his breaks and is winning on out routes.
Lucky looks more physical off the line.
Beasley is getting separation and making catches upfield.
Butler expanded his route repertoire.

What I have been disappointed with for credibility with the negative nancies:

Romo's back injury
Showers accuracy and decision making.
Zeke's hammy
Fred spending a lot of time on the ground.
Leary's performance against backups.
Thornton's transition.
Collins injury and lack of core strength.
Tapper's lingering injury.
Gachkar's lingering injury.
Wilson looks assignment unsound.
Lack of big plays from Jones.

On balance i think there is more good than bad and the emergence of Dak mitigates the impact of yet another Romo injury significantly.
