I said other than Dak I don't know what Stephen could have seen that had us exceed expectations. We already know the OL is good. I'm not surprised Elliott played well but he and Dez didn't really play that much in the pre-season. Maybe Morris would be another that surprised me. Don't get me started on the defense. So I'll revise it to include Morris. People do this every year until the season starts. We just have to wait and see.

At this point the defense being awful is pure conjecture. He was speaking about what he actually witnessed in training camp. In training camp the defense was surprisingly good and held it's own against one of the best offensive units in the NFL. There is reason for optimism there. Maybe it won't end up amounting to much, I won't try to pretend I know. At this point though, there has been no evidence of the horrible monstrosity of a defense everyone is predicting. None.

Claiborne was over drafted and wasnt bright enough to learn a college playbook. There wasnt a team in the NFL, except......, that would have drafted him before the 3rd round. Thats about the level he has performed at.
He can barely find a sandpit at McDonalds.

Other than I can't even remember the last time the Cowboys had a top ranked defense. If they would just be mediocre that would be an improvement. Have to see them in an actual game.

If a club drafts dumb players they end up with a dumb team. Johnson always said give my a troubled player who is smart and l can win with him...Charles Haley come to mind. Dallas have drafted some dummies...Dez...Mo...can not win with dumb players.

The defense will kill the club this year. Count on it and its time to look for some fresh blood at DC.

I agree with you, nothing matters until the real sparks fly. I'm just speaking to Stephen's optimistic view of what he says he's witnessed. I personally have been watching all of the training camp reports and the presesaon games expecting to a see a catastrophic showing by the defensive unit. But it just hasn't happened ... yet.

I agree. Those scrub QBs played well enough to win a couple games last year until the defense gave it away. Don't know why anyone thinks this year will be different. The only thing that will help is if the running game thrives and we win the time of possession and keep our defense off the field.

No kidding. Cassels took a lot of heat and in the end gave up. He wasnt a bum...he could of had a couple of wins..but when he played " half decent" the defense didnt show up. Cassels was literally thrown to the wolves. I felt sorry for him. He looked lost and out of rythym with the offense. Wade Wilson certainly didnt help.

The 1st string offense looked excellent, especially with Dak there, so I can see where the optimism comes from. The depth isn't there though.

Except your wrong. He was a consensus top 10 pick...when we drafted him no one had a problem with it.
