Barry Church - ranked #15

Brandon Carr - Ranked #64 (Seems he's playing at his usual level)

Comparison to those we replaced them with

Orlando Scandrick - ranked #81

Nolan Carrol no longer on the team

Jourdan Lewis - Ranked #64

Jeff Heath - Ranked #71

That's sickening, especially the first two.

Sounds like he's playing Madden in his head to me.

Sometimes the players aren't the problem. I mean if you keep replacing the players but the issues remain maybe the problem lies elsewhere.

True, a complete overhaul with the plan to replace them rookies and Nolan Carroll.....not sure anyone wanted all that. I really would've liked to have kept church and let Heath walk. Also thought Claiborne might've turned a corner and would've been a reasonable signing $-wise.
The ironic bit is that we finally find a pass rush and we decimated the secondary so it doesn't matter.
I can tell you one thing, most of us saw the tragic hilarity of signing Nolan Carroll and then the FO acting like he didn't suck when they brought him in.
You have to pay someone. We just seem to usually be paying the wrong ones. Lord save us if we go and sign Byron Jones after his rookie contract is up.

imagine if we kept some of the DBs and invested some of those picks on a decent RB2 and a decent LB. or perhaps a wr and a OT.

No revisionist history, but there were people here, legit, that didn't want to see Mo go. Not after the way he played his last two seasons (yes, when healthy) before he left. And last year he was a stud.

@Section446, even more were upset when we lost TMac.

Most fans were happy to "shed dead weight," but there was a loud, vocal minority that was concerned about losing some of these guys. And liked the way they played -- namely Mo and McClain. Church and Wilcox to a lesser degree. Hell, there were people upset when we didn't re-sign Carr (I preferred Claiborne, myself).

You said "coaching and talent"

Scheme is every bit a part of coaching. It's what makes BB the GOAT. His schemes. Always changing, always evolving.

A wrench to a mechanic is the same as scheme is to a coach. You need the right tool for the job like you need the right player per the scheme. You coach to the players talent and use the necessary tools (schemes) to get the job done.

Tantalizing for sure, I really wanted a WR. I thought we should've went out and gotten Desean Jackson. The guy can still blaze and is productive, would open up a lot underneath.
I don't think anyone wants a NYG like spending splurge but you have to sign real players every now and then, esp when you can't fill holes with quality draft picks.

And that (scheme'ing for our personnel; to put them in the best position to succeed/win) is what we seem to be lacking. You hear "adjustments" and lack there of with us, those adjustments are to the scheme.

the fans that agreed with 'shedding dead weight' were sold a bill of goods from stephen etc.

I was good with letting Carr and Claiborne walk. Still am. IMO neither were game changers. Specifically with Claiborne, no way I would trust him to stay healthy.

:lmao:
i did want a NYG splurge to win several SBs before tanking.
however, i would have settled for signing carr and a couple other guys and invested more draft resources in pass rush.

Crazy idea. 2018 3-4 front 7:

RDE - Irving
NT - FA
LDE - Collins

ROLB - Gregory
RILB - Smith
LILB - Lee
LOLB - Lawrence

Actually, Taco could find a home in this front - played it before. Put him at LDE instead of Collins. Collins could back up all 3 spots. Draft Vita Vea from Washington in this scenario.

To make it worse, we were also interested in this guy a couple years ago. Had a chance to bring him in.

Casey Hayward - Ranked #1 (He just destroyed Dez on Thanksgiving)

Ha ok not many people wanted that, but would've liked to have seen a few quality pick ups.
Where's all that Romo money we saved? Heck, we might as well kept him, we didn't use it anyway and probably won't next year either.
We are one of the very few teams NOT paying huge $ for our QB so how are we taking advantage of that? ....splurging on guys like Nolan Carroll....

yes i was definitely in the small minority - may be 5% of posters there.
i would happily trade 3-4 years of glorious winning in exchange even with 1 year of cap hell/ likely losing.

we wasted a good % of romo savings signing the wrong garbage-pile FAs.

And we could SB signed one actual good player at a position of need and probably another next year

okay. so you wanted to let go of players who are now doing good things on other teams.

this front office mistakes its failure to put its players in position to win for the players' own personal failings. that's a HUGE problem.
