Stephen Jones.."our phones have been ringing more than ever"

I know you are. It doesn't bother me. I'll just answer honestly. I think this team is significantly weak at WR after Owens. Losing him against Carolina last year was our death knell. Our young WRs are nice kids with decent potential, but I'm not afraid of being honest. If Patrick Crayton were on another team as their primary WR (what he'd be for us if Owens went down) it would not scare me. Nor would any of the others.

I totally agree.

With the weapons we have, if we stay healthy, I think we'll have a solid offense. TO, Barber, Witten and then throw in Felix Jones and possibly Bennett and you can get by with a Crayton at the #2 WR spot. But we would be so much more explosive with a solid starting WR opposite TO, not to mention if he goes down again.

That being said, I don't foresee us getting a Boldin, etc this year. But I welcome pleasant surprises.

We were fine with 1 stud WR ....a stud TE and a stud RB in the 90's........we have the same type of offence here.

Health is the key....if we lost Irvin do u think we would of won a SB that year?

One thing I like this year....and hopefully it pans out.....but Feliz split wide will cause another headache for defenses to defend.

I think this team is fine.....the only concern I have is the Offensive Line....it needs to be more consistant and dominate in the running game.

Considering how badly he's PWNED us in every trade so far, maybe we need to stop trading with Parcells and Ireland.

So now we have a need at ILB? Can someone explain to me why we gave away Akin Ayodele for nothing? What a phenomenally stupid trade that was.

what a phenomenally stupid post this is IMO

Fasano had no future here and niether did Ayodele, who despite the crying of the anti Roy Williams crowd was by far the least talented and productive starter on this defense the past two seasons...the guy did nothing...Zach Thomas has done more in 3 preseason games than Ayodele showed in two years...Ayodele was going to be released anyway...he was not going to beat out Zach Thomas or Bradie James, nor was he going to make either Burnett or Carpenter expendable (who the Dolphins asked for by the way, and we turned them down)...finally, not sure why you think we need another ILB

as for Fasano, its obvious Jason Garrett saw enough after his one yr as OC to know the guy didnt fit the scheme. there was talk he busted alot of pass routes and was only an average blocker. He also had the issue with his shoulder to worry about...he's caught 4 passes in 3 preseason games, he isnt exactly lighting things up where he is now either. Martellus Bennett has a ton of upside, Fasano's upside in this scheme was very limited

Cool - when it comes to evaluating Wide receiver talent I see your scout is Ray Charles!

Austin, Hurd, Crayton are better than hype names teams looking to cut bait on "pedigree receivers". And we have that Noodle armed QB running this show - best post ever!

I read after the trade that Jason Garrett didn't think Anthony Fasano would hold of Touchdown Tony Curtis and that made him not long for the roster.

Fasano did nothing in Big D, so I didn't mind seeing him go.

There's also a good chance that Ayodele was esentially a quid pro quo for Parcells 'cutting' Zach Thomas for us earlier in the year. Zach wasn't going to make it to a time when the Dolphins are competitive. He's a perfect fit for us. It's entirely possible he was let go to have a shot at a ring playing for his favorite childhood team, with us unofficially agreeing to return Fasano/Ayodele right before the draft.

I would love a Wes Welker type of guy. Not a number 1 receiver but does really well as a second reciever without the coverage on him. Not that I don't want a Boldin/Williams type of guy

I think Felix Jones in the slot will make all the Wes Welker-like WR wet dreams go away.

And the Cowboys need fe big fast OLBs to backup Ware/Ellis & play ST. Rogers is a JAG (his ST prowess & versatility are vastly overrated) and Walden needs a year or two on PS, he needs to get bigger (only 240) and work on a few more moves (only knows how to bull rush & his handwork is nonexistent).

I still think it makes sense for Detroit to get something for Williams, but as has been stated often on this forum, Matt Millen is an idiot.

Yeah, I better re-think that idea.

We'll arrange for a 24/7 Nyquil IV, you'll be fine... :D

And we'll make real sure Nors stays on his meds this time...

I'll believe Fasano catches 40-50 passes for the Fins when I see it...

And even then, I find myself wondering if certain fools in here think he'd EVER catch that many passes for a team that has Jason Witten...

Fasano was brought here to be the blocking TE, and he didn't block worth a hammered crap... given that, getting ANYTHING for him was basically making chicken salad out of chicken...

Well, you get the idea...

I've often thought that Millen posts in here, posing as a Cowboys fan... you can probably guess that I have a few posters in here that I think he might be...

I hear all the whining that we HAVE to have another #1 WR .......I really cant name a Superbowl winning team in the last 20 years that had better Wr's than we have now....(aside from the 99 Rams and 2006 Colts) most good teams have 1 and after that just average guys

Good point. Tampa Bay won in '03 with Keyshawn Johnson, Joe Jurevicius and Keenan McCardell. While Jurevicius and McCardell weren't average, they weren't true number one receivers either at the time. Even Keyshawn was pushing the envelope.

Very good teams make due with what they have to work with. The talent is here. It only needs to execute to be truly successful.

I guess fans have to have something to worry about.

I'll take this problem over the Quincy vs. Hutch dilemma every time. :muttley:

If Bennett pans out we could have the best pass catching tight end in the NFL. Couple that with Romo and Barber and our receivers(Roy Williams when he becomes a Free Agent)

That'd be heaven.

Speaking of Nyquil, I better take mine to continue to kill this cold. I will be more worthless than usual in about 10 minutes. I love that stuff.
