News: Stephen Jones says Cowboys won't pass on franchise QB at No. 4

I'm on the official, roll the dice and draft a qb, train now. I will even endure the endless threads on here how he needs to start over Tony every time he has a bad game, throws a pic, over throws a receiver, fumbles, takes a sack, where's his hat backwards etc, etc, etc

I'm with you. Romo is still my guy and I think he can play at a top level right now. I would feel a lot better about the overall future of this club with a top QB waiting in the wings instead of the fire drill of trying to come up with a QB once Tony hangs them up. I'm all in favor of using FA and the remainder of the draft to address defense

Romo is also one hit away from hanging them up in my opinion, one more of those late hits to the back he always seems to take and its over.

You never know. I hate drafting this early in the draft but if I am going to then I will address the most important position on any team and that is the QB.

Yeah, I think Tony can play at a high level another three years or so. And more importantly I think Jerry and Stephen think that too. (Rightly or wrongly)

I agree. We're drafting that high solely because we don't have QB depth behind Romo. It makes 100% sense to draft a franchise QB if he's there at #4. Some people will say there aren't any franchise QBs in this draft and that it's a crapshoot-- but that's true of any position. There are no "sure things" in the draft.

We are in the best position to take Romo's heir apparent because we can develop him for 2-3 years before giving him the reins.

I hope the Cowboys take a lesson from the Spurs. When David Robinson got hurt and the Spurs collapsed, they were able to draft Tim Duncan. The Spurs rebounded and have been in the hunt ever since. If you can get a premium guy at a premium position, you take him. A franchise quarterback is the Holy Grail of the NFL.

Even the biggest romo hater doesn't think we go 4-12 if he is healthy. So take the qb and hope this year was an anomaly

Thanks for the psychic reading Miss Cleo

You are welcome.

Sorry..

after being a fan for 50 years and seen every QB we ever had..

Don Meredith reached a point where repeated injuries ended his career..

Roger Staubach the same with concussions..

Troy Aikman with knees, back and concussions..

It's just a matter of time.

As the owner he has to see it coming.

Preach... I have more trust in guys that actually get paid to evaluate and scout talent.. Than YouTube scouts. People going to complain no matter what happens. They need to do what's best for the franchise long term. Not the were just one player away from the SB mentality.

People saying it's a "weak" QB class...how the hell do you know that? Seriously the most arbitrary claim one could make.

These are the same people that say you can't judge a draft pick until the 3rd season. Bunch of know it all know nothings.

Because I was told there are no ALuck's or Aikmans. lol. Even if there were, they'd go #1 and we wouldn't have a chance anyways to draft one.

Probably has something to do with all of the Hall of Fame QBs pumped out by North Dakota State and Memphis...

or people actually watch college football and the underwhelming way in which this current crop of QBs play.. that's just preposterous

yes, let's take a QB at #4 because we just absolutely have to and quickly turn into the Titans (Locker) or the Jags (Gabbert)
