We can't resign everybody. The cost of keeping Quinn and Bennett may be too high but what about Crawford and DLaw?

We all know Crawford isn't worth the money and I never like the resigning of DLaw. Because the 2019 draft was loaded with DE talent and we had 30 plus contracts ending after this year. If they'd never resigned DLaw we wouldn't be struggling to keep players.

If they would have let DLaw walk and put Taco in his spot, we could easily keep this team together. Why over pay for a DE in 2019 when the 2019 draft was loaded with DE talent? That's the move that put us up against the wall.

So now we will have to reload our defensive line in a draft that's skimpy on good definsive linemen. Which means more bottom feeders. Cause Dak, Cooper, and Jones come before any of the other free agents.

The only other real choice they have is let Jones walk to field a competitive defensive line. They'll just have to replace him in next year's draft. But having Taco, Jones and a healthy wallet would have been my preferred choice.

I think it is a bit amusing that the guy who says they don't do free agency because you overpay says he hopes they can find another Quinn or Bennett in that pool next year.

That comment makes no sense on any level. They had to trade for both players.
Whenever SJ speaks, he proves himself more of an idiot than he did the previous time. This family sucks as owners. We’re stuck with them because nobody else can afford to buy our $5BIL+-valued Yugo.

Both Quinn and Bennett are in their 30's. Competent organizations let these types of guys go and replace them with younger players. This is why the Taco and Hill picks hurt so much. You're not only drafting bad players, you're also having to use extra draft capital and free agency money to clean up those misses.

Competent organizations (and those posting about them) realize that a mix of relatively low cost vets on short-term deals along with younger players is a great combination.

By the way everyone is blaming Marinelli but I heard on one of the podcast shows that Richard signed off on passing on Thornhill making way for Marinelli to get his guy. The entire dline drafting process in Dallas is broken.
I said the same exact thing in another Hill thread and it was met with silence. Somehow Richard gets a pass. By the way he also called him a "generational athlete".

Yeah I could see the controversy

Could of kept Taco + added 3 defensive line starters (Johnathon Hankins, Danny Shelton and your choice of Brown or McCoy) for cheaper than signing Tank.

Sounds like something a smart organization like the Patriots would do (oh wait, that is EXACTLY what they do)

Hoping that we update to a 2020 model of a defensive coordinator, but if for some reason Rod is still in the building, he should be rudely and blatantly ignored when he speaks on draft day.

Yup, he should be locked into a broom cupboard during draft day

Well, now that's fixed. All you have to do is go on a radio show and announce a player has to step it up as if said player didn't already know that. This said player came in with a red flag around his foot with a former coaching staff questioning his desire to step it up.

Problem solving 101, make someone else own the problem, in this case the unmotivated player who likes sleeping in and out in public.

From those comments form Idiot Boy Child and the DC who pushed for this player said "I've got a guy that's willing". He certainly has a strange way of showing that and his gratitude for a man standing up for him to the team.

It’s hard for a guy like Stephen, whose Daddy literally bought his whole family guaranteed jobs for life (regardless of results) to understand how he sounds. I’m not sure he can comprehend what “lighting a fire” under someone’s backside even means since he will never experience what it means to have his job on the line.

This team could go 0-16 three straight seasons and Stephen Jones and everyone else named Jones in the FO is as safe as a rat in a New York Subway.

If you want to be a dynasty in today's NFL the first thing you have to do is defeat the salary cap. You can put a team together (one year) and swing for the fences (one year) like the Eagles done. But you will soon have to disband that team like the Eagles done. So you can take the Eagles approach or the Patriots approach. Which one do you think is better?

Kinda hard to "step it up" if the kid doesn't even have enough talent to step it up

..."if we happen to lost Bennett and Quinn next year". ...lol yer, screwed. Trysten is not replacing anybody. The Jones cant see the fly on the wall with this guy. The sunk-cost fallacy is taking effect. ;)..

He's the most talented and impactful defensive lineman on the team, but concerns over his football character and maturity have hindered his standing on the team at times. Despite starting just once this season, Hill was a gap bandit who disrupted running games and spent time harassing quarterbacks with consistent effort and hustle. He needs to get stronger and play with better control, but his get-off and athletic hands/feet should make him a rotational one-gapper if the maturity and coachability check out.

Weaknesses
  • Has been in the doghouse with his coaches at times
  • Work ethic has been challenged in the past
  • Can be inefficient due to lack of control at times
  • Inconsistent initial reaction step
  • Will run himself out of gaps
  • Could struggle to anchor against double teams
  • Head down when firing into initial punch
  • Needs better feel and response for down blocks
  • Has to prove he can handle heads-up NFL power
Maybe Stevie needs to read NFL.com before selecting a player.

Good job we didn't want to try and trade for a Dlineman and a safety midseason. Glad Hill worked out for us.

this is Steven negotiating with Dak through the media. Wants Dak to take team friendly deal so they can pay more people.

Maybe McClay needs to also.
