Just saw this on R World.. don't know how to link:
NFL.com's Ian Rapoport reports the Cowboys reached out to free agent Kyle Orton, but that he's "still finished with football."
take it for what it's worth
Denvers 2nd string QB Brock Osweilser is another capable young Backup, but not sure of his trade value or the value of Tampas' 2nd string Glennon or even Greenbays' 3rd string Hundley, furthermore if any one of them would be available.
so you would take Hundley over Showers?
Because for one he's cheap and nobody would think that he would have to spot Romo for 8 games, instead of 1or 2 games like last year. There is a reason Romo flew to London on his back in the aisle!
It would be interesting for Dallas to clarify if they are looking for someone instead of Weeden, which would be really dumb since we have known all along we were one hit away from him being the starter, or if they are looking for someone as a backup.
I just don't see anyone they can bring in being a better option for at least the next 2-3 weeks than Weeden.
Obviously, Orton doesn't have much desire to play football again and even if he did, it is a new offense since he left. While Linnehan runs a similar system to Garrett, there is likely terminology changes. Orton would take at least a few weeks to be able to run the team. Going forward, he might be slightly better than Weeden but not likely to make more than a game worth of difference.
As far as trading for guys like Osweiler, Hundley, etc....I doubt any team that is a contender is going to part with their quality #2 guy especially to a team that is of playoff caliber. It makes no sense for any NFC team for sure at this point to possibly improve the Cowboys.
Weeden and Moore are the way to go unless they really are disappointed in Moore.
Moore, at least, knows the offense. He was in Detroit when Lenehan was there. He would have some small advantage there. On the other hand, lenehan knows Moore so if he is not brought in, you have to think that there is a reason for it.
How did he screw us really? Did you pay him out of your pocket??
Just so we're clear:
1. He's cheap.
2. He's not capable of filling in more than maybe a game or two.
Again I ask, why is he on the roster?
If the team is even thinking about bringing another QB in, why is Weeden on the roster?
He's the backup. When the starter is hurt, the backup plays. lol. Weeden just backs up no matter what, even to guys not currently on the roster.
How about Favre?
