Stephen: Our offseason approach isn't changing

Stephen is like his dumb father.

They like to hear themselves talk.

A day ago he says they will do dramatic things and today it’s we won’t deviate from our plan.

They literally ham and egg it every offseason. They have zero plan.

Stephen will ultimately point to the fact that they had to franchise Pickens and re-sign Aubrey to make him the highest-paid kicker in the NFL and therefore not able to be as aggressive in free agency as they wanted.
This happens every year…always some excuse.

I'm getting very bi-polar about this off-season already..

One day I'm thinking.. well maybe things are changing.. maybe just maybe..

Then the next day.. what's the point.. things are going to be exactly the same as every other year.

arrrggg.. this team !
Maybe we should just all be cynics like @MountaineerCowboy so that we keep our egos intact when we fall for the BS...again.

I've got 2 already. Marshmallow Boy and the Man with One Leg. 2 guys destined to be Cowboys

I write them like a "Mad Libbss" book and just fill in different names every season.

* Had to misspell the name of the book because algorithm no-likey a certain word.

I didn’t listen because I can’t handle listening to him, but HOW is there no follow up question asking why would they not change what we know doesn’t work??

Or are they not allowed to ask?
The follow-up should've been something to the effect of "Jerry has said his ways haven't been working" (or whatever the actual quote from Jerry was). Stephen should've been pressed to throw his father under the bus... Or something.

there we go. :)

that’s the good stuff gimme more uncle stevie

I am still waiting for all of the posters who were pounding the table saying "LOOK HOW DIFFERENT THIS OFF SEASON IS!" "YOURE A HATER IF YOU DONT BELIEVE THEY HAVE CHANGED" "LOOK AT ALL OF THE EVIDENCE"

To show themselves. It wont happen. Or they will brush this aside as Stephen just talking.

Smart move not calling out this poster. Funny. I know exactly who you are speaking about.
There's actually a small core of these fans , but to be honest I'm glad that they're a part of this forum.

It would be really dull if this was an echo chamber of like-minded opinions......plus it gives me tons of material to harvest and later extrude.

I can understand the “Jones-speak language”.

Translation: “We always do a good job in the off-season. We’ve just been unlucky. We do things ‘our way’ which is of course the right way. We are comfortable doing things this way because we are always comfortable with ourselves.”

What could possibly go wrong with a front office that does not hold anyone accountable for failure other than mid-level lackeys with no real authority?
Bold> Exactly.

Anyone expecting otherwise is deluded. We will sign several one year contracts with a lot of mediocre players and hope we have a good draft.

This is how they build the team. That's their approach.

Anybody surprised? No

We all knew they would

- Pay Williams
- Pay Aubrey
- Franchise Pickens

They will bring two bums like Sam Williams and Donovan Wilson then cry they are crap broke.

Then Jerry will praise himself for the Micah trade and what we could do with that extra $$$

This is why I don’t care if they give Aubrey 8 or 10 million. Do you expect them to do anything with the extra $2.5 million? They’ll spend it on Trent Seig and CJ Goodwin

I am going to hold out some hope for a bit longer, at least into free agency and the draft. I will re-evaluate at that point.

In a sense he is right, the offense is in a pretty decent space....even with poor tackle play we put up some of the best numbers in the league and for the most part it looks like they are gonna run that back.

He does sense that the defense is a wreck and they really need to figure it out. In his mind, they have done things to shore up weaknesses in the past. In the past they have made moves in free agency....but not ones that cost very much or that will make much of an impact on winning. In fact, they kind of have decided to sign mediocre guys just to fill major holes so in the draft they can "go with the best available player, not be locked into taking the biggest need. That hasn't worked. The hope is that this year they will be more effective and actually spend some damned money on outside free agents.
