That's funny because I'm the exact opposite. While it would have been nice to see Nash in TO I would rather the greatest Canadain basketball player get a ring.

Seems to me that you are both saying the same thing ?
Color me confused...by your response.

Anyway back to current topic...
I have 2 concerns about Howard. His back, and his attitude. Almost the same as Bynum however, his knee and his attitude.

I guess we shall see. I would hate to lose Ron-Ron though. Same as I hated losing Odom. Not a perfect player, but a really good fit for the team.

I guess I have a 3rd concern for both players also...does either really want to be in LA ?

I think the Lakers now need to make a move with Gasol. They could easily stand pat with Bynum and Gasol and still be very, very good but I think they should make a move with Gasol. It's looking like Sessions may sign with the Maves. If that happens, then we might see a guy like Fisher come back to the Lakers or maybe a guy like Jameer Nelson or the guy I would like to have, Ray Felton.

I would not mind the Lakers looking at a guy like Camby either. He's not a scorer but he still plays some very, very strong defense. This team will have plenty of scoring from other areas so I think they could look at a guy like Camby and he would give some very good minutes off the bench or as a starter if you sustained injury at the 4 or 5. I would also like to see a guy like Antwan Jamison signed. He could be very valuable. He's a guy with the athletic ability and size you would need to match up with a LeBron or a Pierce, Durant or Mello. Jamison is a 6'9" 235 lbs vet who still has good defensive capabilities, has a good inside outside game and he is a team guy. He, IMO, would be an excellent fit for the Lakers. I've heard that the Lakers are also interested in Hill. I don't know what he's got left to be honest. If he recovers from surgery, then he might also be a good fit. Obviously, Kobe is the guy at the 2 but if you bring in Hill, he could easily spell Kobe and give you minutes at the 3.

If you decided to trade Gasol, then I think Atlanta for Josh Smith would be a great move. That would get you a nice young player that can run and jump and play some very strong defense for you. Maybe you don't need to move Bynum for Howard if you make these moves. You would have some age on the team but you would also bring in a lot of youth and have a nice combination of the two as well as some flexibility in your lineup and a very strong defensive team. Between Kobe, Smith and Bynum, you have plenty of offense. Throw in Nash and add Jamison and you have a guy who can give you rebounding, scoring and defense off the bench. The older guys would all have shorter contracts so you could get out from under them quickly when the time came and keep Bynum, Smith and one of the younger PGs when the time came. That's a solid nucleus of talent from which to rebuild in a few years.

He wanted him in TO but is OK with him going to a contender and I wanted him to go to a contender and would have been OK with him going to TO, I think...

Very nice pickup for the Lakers.

He isn't Michael Jordan, or anything jokingly close that was posted, but he's still a really good player thats a real nice pickup for the Lakers.

Kobe Bryant will be on Sportscenter in about 10 minutes to discuss the Nash trade and a possible Howard trade.

there is almost no chance a 3rd team will get involved.

What would a 3rd team gain?

In the proposed trade, all of the players of worth are going from Brooklyn to Orlando. That is the only reason Orlando would accept this deal. Brooklyn will receive Dwight.

One of the stipulations holding up the deal is that Orlando wants more than what Brooklyn is offering AND to rid themselves of bad deals(richardson and Hedo). So the 3rd team would have to give up players to entice Orlando to finish the deal, AND take on the bad contracts since Brooklyn doesn't have cap space, and Orlando wants to trade them in order to finish the deal.

So barring the 3rd team getting a ton of draft picks, what would any 3rd team gain in this? Joe Johnson, Dwight and Williams would be in Brooklyn, Orlando would have Marshon brooks, Brooks Lopez, Kris Humphries, and the 3rd team would end up with terrible contracts of Hedo and Richardson.

Why would anybody want to get involved? I see almost 0 chance of that.

What the heck do the Nets have to offer?

They're offering Brooks, Lopez, and picks. Not a very good offer at all, but they're trying to get a 3rd team involved. I still think he ends up in L.A.
