ummm, not even in the slightest.

I take it your a WV fan yes. Well does these names sound familiar:
Amos Zereoue
Avon Cobourne
Quincy Wilson
Kay-Jay Harris

Now can you tell me what they all have in common? yes that right they were all good running backs at WV but got to the nfl an were busts. Slaton will be added to the list in a few years.

An to the poster that said he was better the Reggie Bush, you need to lay off the drugs.

just go to youtube and type in Steve Slaton

I have seen Slanton play and I was impressed by him. I was also impressed with McFadden. I'm not ready to say who I would want between them at this stage if I had a choice. We have another season ahead of us which gives us more info on these players and many things can happen between now and next years draft. I recall after the 2005 season that most expected Quinn to be the 1st QB taken and likely the 1st player taken in the draft. After the 2006 season scouts did not seem as overly impressed with him as they had the year before. I'm looking forward to seeing another year of college ball and see who does what.

Some one must have forgotten to tell Larry Johnson that Penn St RB sucked in prior years. Because some other backs that went to UWV failed has nothing to do with what Slaton may or may not do in the NFL. He is his own person not some UWV clone.

And people forget that Julius FASTEST time at the combine was 4.38. The only RB to run faster was Tatum Bell who ran a 4.37. I think the best of Julius is YET to come...I think that the Dallas Brass will use this year to SEE if Julius IS the back for the future and give him more carries...I bet we don't take either back and BOTH will be on the board come NEXT year draft day...

I recall the exact same thing, and it was also mentioned during the draft that year.

Edit

Well all i could fine was a mention that he ran a 4.40 and a 4.47 at the combine according to Gil Brandt.

he is a better runnin back than reggie bush... reggie bush will never be a 20plus carry guy ... he is a mismatch player for other teams not a great running back . slaton is a running back who will be a star in the nfl.... and about this jackson guy from cal .. he is very fast but im not so sold on him like most of you seem to be ... hope he proves me wrong as the wr positon doesnt seem to be so deep for next year ... i like lima sweed from texas tho

When people say JuJo runs a 4.40 and 4.49 at the combine that is leaving a whole lot out. the reason there are two times is because they take one with the wind and one against the wind, after calculating the wind speed into it they come up with a final time. It is not as simple as averaging the two times.

According to NFL's official website he runs a 4.47, and that is a fact. So stop saying he is any faster than he really is.

Well first off you should probably not go around making assumptions you dont know the answer to, it makes your post look very ignorant when you are wrong, and then pretty much discounts your opinion.

So to start with NO I am not a WV fan, not even in the slightest. Could care less about WV.

2nd your list of players on that list where never considered Top 10-15 draft picks.

3rd anybody can go around and pick scrubs from a college team over the years at the same position and use that as a very weak argument, very weak, because one has nothing to do with the other.

And after watching Slaton play several times, and even seeing Troy Davis play in person at Folsom Field, they are not even close to the same back.

I didn't imply that only speed matters...I don't think that Julius has vision problems though...He had EXCELLENT vision his rookie year and all of a sudden he is blind? NO!!!! I think now that the offensive line is improved you will see more big plays...Check out that long run vs the Saints, or the playoff game vs. the Seahawks. He doesn't have the GREATEST balance but i believe that he is more bulkier than he was when he came into the league and that took away some of his flexibility...

Seattle was also playing their safeties super deep to cover up for a depleted secondary. John Madden even pointed out the effects it was having on the run game during the game.

Show me a mock & draft board or anything that says Slaton is a top 10-15 draft pick.

Those backs i just listed were not scrubs in college but happen to be scrubs in the nfl, because they played in that spread system & it made them look better then they really are. Slaton is a good back in college but he is to little to be a 1st rd pick/everydown back in the draft & will never be more then a 3rd down back/KR.

Reggie Bush is 5'11 205 & they were saying he's a everydown back then how in the hell could Slaton who's 5'10 195 be a everydown back. An Slaton is now even close to being as strong as Bush.

Well first of all college players tend to fill out their bodies more as they go further along into their career. I'll be really surprised if he is still 195 by the time the draft rolls around.

Secondly Bush is 6 foot.

Thirdly McFadden is 6'2 and weighs 205. That means for every inch of height he weighs 2.77 lbs. Compared with Slaton who is 2.78 lbs for every inch of height.

So Mcfadden is actually a little bit skinnier than Slaton so if you are going to say Slaton won't be able to hold up in the NFL you would have to say the same thing also about McFadden. (but both of them will weigh significantly more by the draft)
