You're making way to much of a Tampa game nobody on the team card about. And he still went 32 of 37 that game (86%) with 258 yards and a TD, so its hard to say that he didn't play well. The team mailed it in.

I watched the game. He consistently checked the ball down and did in fact, mail it in.

They scored 17 points which is a poor offensive showing for a team averaging almost twice that entering December.

The Cards have an abysmal secondary but do not be surprised if Brees isn't sharp.

So your argument is that Brees isn't so good because his December PR was only 103? Or because they only won by 3 points in their 2 wins? Or because he fumbled twice in a loss? Or because they didn't score enough in his last 2 games.

Fact: They only won by 3 because their D couldn't stop anyone. Brees is not a DB. Not on him.

Fact: There was absolutely nothing more that Brees could have done in the Tampa loss. He threw 5 incomplete passes and was sacked only once. He receivers fumbled and continually just didn't get the extra half yard needed for firsts. Also, Drew didn't miss the game winning 37 yard field goal (which he set up with a nice drive).

Fact: His PR was lower because of one game. The one against us.

Again, they had very little to play for after losing to us.

If you put all those points together than yes that is my point.
Not any one of them but ALL together yes.

The Saints scoring dropped, Brees yards per attempt dropped, his play simply wasn't as good. Not sure why it would be hard to follow that when you score 17 points the offense isn't playing at a high level.

Steve Young was on ESPN and was asked to rank the QBs playing in the NFC playoffs right now.

1. Drew Brees
2. Brett Favre
3. Kurt Warner
4. Tony Romo

He said Romo still has to prove something and that even though he got a monkey off his back, there are still more monkey's out there.

I think Romo does have something to prove. Favre and Warner have their Superbowl titles. They have been there. The problem I have is that Brees has not proven anything during his career. I like Brees, but if we are going to hold one QB to a standard then they should all be held to the same standard.

Romo has been playing better football over the last month than the other three guys. Even so I would rank Warner #1 just because he had such a tremendous game last weekend. Romo would be #2. Favre would be #3 because he finished the Bears game pretty well. He also did a good job against the Giants in the season finale, but that is partly because the G-men quit. Brees would be #4 because he struggled down the stretch and has not even played in three weeks since he didn't see the field in the Saints last game.

...Favre finished the Bears game pretty well but with both starting safeties out for the game and top cb Tillman out in the fourth quarter you had to like his chances to torch them...just some perspective...

At any rate, Warner and Manning are definitely the cream of the crop for this season's playoff QBs.

Manning is a regular season phenom who despite being perhaps the best pure passer in NFL history during the regular season, is generally mediocre to crap during the post-season (he does have a few very good games).

Kurt Warner is by far the best post-season QB left standing and nobody else is even close. Peyton Manning is probably #2, but I could make a case for Favre or Rivers there as well.

I noticed that the DMN (Gosselin)today rates all QBs remaining from NFC and AFC:

1--Manning
2--Brees
3--Rivers
4--Favre
5--Warner
6--Romo
7--Flacco
8--Sanchez

Really, after Manning, I think the next 5 are very close.

I can see Romo behing QBs who have won Super Bowls, but that's it. Romo has finished all of his statting seasons with consitent +90 QB ratings. A more objective order for my tastes would be:

1--Manning
2--Warner
3--Favre
4--Romo
5--Brees
6--Rivers
7--Flacco
8--Sanchez

Those other monkeys you have to get off your back are the hyper-sexed ones and they leave a lot of indentations.

Even if he did, so what? It was a completely meaningless game.

Do you think he's going to mail it in against the Cards?
