Still believe what the Jones boys say?

50MM.

It’s absurd. Jerry likes and pays for flashy things without any long term vision.
If Zeke can give us 4 good years and we get out of it for an average of $12.5 million per year, that won't be a bad deal for Dallas at all.

I think even that criticism (and a valid one) is now changing as well.

They clearly love Jason Garrett the person, but even they can't and won't ignore a failure to produce results any longer.
Im hoping would like to see another championship before a meteor hits the earth . Seems like Garrett keeps Jerry comfortable and dose just enough to keep his job

Jimmy Johnson was performing the duties of the GM when we won 2 of those 3 super bowls and he had the last word in all football matters per his contract. The 3rd Super Bowl was won with the team Jimmy built and was won by a coach on autopilot with Jimmys roster.

After the 3rd Jimmy-built Super Bowl was won, Jerry began to take over in earnest, every facet of the team, football issues esp. Jerry's legacy is that of an owner who has tried to win a div playoff game for the past 24 seasons and failed. Jerry gets credit for hiring Jimmy, letting Jimmy have the last word with everything football related, and writing checks. Once Jimmys talent got old and splintered by free agency, Jerry was unable to even win consequetive playoff games with 24 seasons to experiment with.

So here we are 24 years later with what most sportswriters consider to be a championship roster, and odds are, we will fail to win consequetive playoff games again if we even make the playoffs at all. Why? Because Jerry refuses to give us an elite coaching staff, the Jones cartel country club atmosphere, constant Jones boys' radio and tv interviews to provide constant distractions, and the contract distractions that could have been settled out of the public eye way before training camp started.

We must overcome all these factors to try to win consequetive playoff games.

There are no excuses for our team this season. But the Jones boys already have the excuses machine ready to justify another season without a deep playoff run. 24 seasons will make even the best Cowboy fan skeptical. Respect is earned, which is why the national media never respects us. Making a deep playoff run is the only remedy for gaining respect.

"Hope is not a strategy" - Dan McDowell

Bro you wrote all of that for what? I have been a fan since 1972 and I know exactly what Jimmy meant to the Super Bowls we won. My point was that o would listen to Jerry over any internet executive because he has actually the damn experience.

Remember how good you feel about this when we have to skimp in defense and let guys like Jones and M Collins and others walk.

Honestly, if we aren't winning super bowls, we should be churning some of these positions. We still draft players every year, so some of these positions will be replaced by rookies and end up saving $$. That is not a bad thing.

And Jerry would like to see another before he leaves the Earth. As he stated just a few days ago: "I'm not messin' around!"

The team is throwing around huge money to keep a great young nucleus of talented players together for as long as they can. They're not going to allow that to be undone by an overmatched coaching staff if they can't hold up their end of the bargain.

My point was simple, Jimmy had everything to do w roster building, trades, and coaching decisions that were the reason we had an early 90s dynasty. Jerry was a figurehead GM so I dont see that Jerry had much to do with building a dynasty and history has shown that Jerry is incapable of building a deep playoff run Team. Only the Lions and Washington have that same distinction in the nfc. Jerry is a loser without Jimmy.

Dak and his agent now know Jerry can be played.
If I'm Dak I'm hanging out in Cabo during preseason .

That’s only half the problem.

Even if Zeke plays well if we have to let quality defenders walk, for example, and that affects the team performance it’s not a good deal.

That's only true if Dak is considered to be the best QB in the league. When that happens, come back and we can talk.

We should have been churning the one position that teams have shown you can win a SB by churning...... TB

Surely you didn't think they were going to be able to sign him for $6-8 million per year. $12.5 million is really pretty good. Obviously some future contracts may be more difficult, but that is the case with big contracts signed by J. Smith, T. Smith, Frederick, Martin and Lawrence as well. No team gets to sign players without having to make choices. That's part of why it's so important to draft well and be able to supplement the higher paid players with lower cost players on rookie deals.

Hey, I have an idea! Let’s take something most people here wanted to see happen and turn it into another opportunity to slam the Jones boys.

Most Cowboys fans wanted Zeke to be the highest paid RB in the NFL 2 years before his rookie deal expires?

That’s news to me

When it became apparent Zeke was holding out at the beginning of training camp this summer, Stephen Jones famously declared, “We’re not going to set the market.”

Jerry made chest thumping declarations implying opposition to Zeke’s contract position. Remember “Zeke Who”? Remember his long winded wandering defiant answers at Jaylon Smith’s contract extension press conference? Or his calls to a Dallas radio station?

I don’t have a problem with Zeke’s contract. Glad he’s getting paid. My problem is with the frequent and distracting mouth running of our front office. The Jones boys love to talk. But in the end, they don’t say much that ends up being true.
They seldom do, this is all of the reality show known as the Dallas Cowboys and the main reason I no longer have any passion for this team. I watch but really don't care about the outcome and part of me has reverted to the old days when I enjoyed his face when the Cowboys lost.

The man has made himself the face of his team and it's not a pretty face, not remotely pretty. I have usually been successful at avoiding anything he says but this entire Elliott exercise in futility because everyone should have known he would crater as he always does for his stars was unavoidable. The required coverage for a team that has basically accomplished nothing in 24 years is ruining the sport and sports coverage for me. One team has owned the NFL, put forth the best HC and QB of their generation and they don't get half the coverage the Cowboys get, even with handjob Bob.

I thought the deal was actually a bit shockingly reasonable.

id say Gurley and the Rams did , did they not start all this?. now they paid that JAG Goff 33 mil..now they have the highest paid RB, a 33mil QB, and the highest paid DT in the legue..

id say welcome to the new NFL..this has just begun..this is the new realities and nothing the Jones boys can be faulted for..

again why does what the owners spend on players become so important to the FAN..watch the dang games!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! contracts and money have no ;lace to get fans riled up this much..

we watch and comment on games.. not money.. unless you are the Packers who the fans actually are stock holders , this should not matter one bit.. something to talk about but passing blame and getting into heated arguments.. just not smart
That's all well and good but look at this forum since all of this started. When his contract wasn't front and center, Lawrence's was and then Prescott's and Cooper's and on and on.

New ground has been broken in hold outs and being rewarded for it and some think this is a good day?

They just caused a major problem for there team. Everyone will now be looking to get paid after just 3 years in the league. Even if they have major off the field issues.
