On ESPN sportscenter Chris Mortinson said the two free agents most intriguing were Restricted free agents Derek Anderson and Marion Barber, Mort went on to say that now that Tuna is in the picture at Miami,he basically will be a player in getting MBIII.... Give it up MORT!!!!

I think Parcells knows it will take a miracle to get MB3 in a Dolphins uni.

When Parcells went from the Pats to the Jets how did he obtain Curtis Martin? I can't remember if he traded for him or if he signed him to an offer sheet and giving up a draft pick.

He traded for him, I'm pretty sure it was a draft pick. I don't remember what round.
So basically I'm no help....

There is no way in hizell Jerry will let Parcells get his mitts on Barber.

From Wikipedia

After the 1997 season, Martin, a restricted free agent, signed an offer sheet with the New York Jets[2] for $36 million over six years. The Patriots did not match the Jets' offer and received first- and third-round draft picks as compensation.

I would love for Parcells to give us Miami's 1st and 3rd for Barber. He's good but he aint that good.

#1 over all and the first pick of the 3rd round and a posion pill contract and the Fins can have MB3.

Or have they outlawed the posion pill contract?

Parcell's won't give us the First Pick in the Draft for Barber, Ain't happening, I'll drive Marion to the Airport if that goes down.

Parcells said of MBIII (paraphrasing): "sometimes the OL has to block their guys twice so Marion can get to the line of scrimage."
I think Parcells prefers better jets on his RB's. I would be surprised to see him give up anything to get Barber.

Not that I've read, I think its more of a gentleman's agreement to stop doing that between teams.

Someone please explain this poison pill stuff? I have heard it for a few years and have never understood it.

Ooooh... let the wild *** speculation begin! Miami gives 1st and 3rd for MBIII, and we don't match.

#1 DMAC
#22 McKelvin
#28 Felix Jones

JERRY RECREATES THE ARKSANAS MAGIC!

The first I heard about it was when The Viking signed the Seahawks Hutchinson (spelling?) to an offersheet. In that contract it said if he played x amount of games in the state of Washington he would get a huge bonus. This essentially prevented the Hawks from matching because his contract would have been insane. The Hawks bit back by signing Nate Burelson with similar incentives. It makes it impossible to re-sign a free agent with clauses like that.

A line in the contract that makes the other team unable to match. For instance, Miami could offer Barber an incentive laden contract for $35M over 4 years with only 15M guranteed... but put a line in the contract that says all $35M becomes guranteed if Barber plays 6 games in the state of Texas in 2008. That would mean that Dallas would be stuck with the full $35M number if they match the Miami offer.
When the Vikings got Hutchenson from Seattle, they did so via the "poison pill". That is probably the most famous case.
