Stop the handwringing over the final offensive possession

Rodgers is Rodgers... it's the ground game that killed us. Our run D is horrific.

Agreed. I can't believe the missed tackle on Rogers in that final drive, costing us 18 yards. Maybe I'm wrong, but it didn't seem that Irving made much of an effort. And we made a chump Packer running back look like Emmitt Smith or Walter Payton.

tell me something. if everyone here knows 1 minute and change is to much time for rodgers, why wouldn't the staff know this and keep running the ball to run the clock out? it might not be on dak but it was definitely on garrett and linehan. that pass on 2 and 1 should not have been thrown
Is this a trick question?

This is on the FO and coaching staff. Blew up our secondary and retains this atrocious coaching staff
It seems that, sadly, in Cowboysland, it's easier to blame or hold accountable the players than the coaches.

I still can’t believe the Cowboys have scored 30+ points in 3 of their last 6 games dating back to last years’s playoff game, all at home, and lost all 3. Seriously, what are the odds of that happening? Our defense is shameful.

So you want your coach to actively try NOT to score the go ahead touchdown on a given play.

There isn't a single coach in the league who agrees with that.

I want QB & OC to know the situation. And if in heat of moment they don't know then HC needs to step in and over-rule any throwing plays that may stop the clock. Also Dak should have been running clock down close to zero every play. Garrett OC duties were taken away from him because of his poor clock management skills. Yesterday he did nothing to help Cowboys win. He was watching the game like he is fan.

No one is saying they shouldn't try to score.

What people are saying is that they should try to score using smarter plays and not taking low percentage plays that have a high probability of not working and giving the Packers a free timeout.

It's amazing how many people struggle with this.

We scored 31 points at home. Home teams that score 30+ win 96% of the time in NFL history.

The bottom line is our offense gave us a huge cushion and he defense blew it. Then they got the lead back and all they asked was to keep GB from going 75 yards in 80 seconds.

Those pinpointing the last offensive series as the culprit are misplacing blame. You do whatever you need to to score there. You DO NOT fall down at the one. That's moronic. You don't run on 2nd down if you think the best play is a pass.

The defense lost this game, period. Dak and company did PLENTY.

You can't look at it that way.

Green Bay outscored Dallas, 29-10, to end that game. (Actually 31-10 if you don't count the missed extra points.)

The same thing happened against the Rams. Second-half meltdown on offense and defense.

You know you can still try to score a TD running, you know, just like they did the very next play.

I love how the mantra is that any other play besides a 50/50 jump ball to Dez means we are not trying to score a TD.

Anything to protect Coach Clapper from criticism:rolleyes:

Where did I say that?

Besides, the play in question was an RPO. The OL is actually run blocking on the play. Dak had the option to give the ball to Zeke, keep it himself or throw to Dez.

We actually ran the exact same concept on the next play where we score, the play was just flipped.

The decision to throw on 2nd down was a read by Dak, and not a particularly bad one. It was a routine Des jump ball TD with good placement.

I am not arguing that it was not a good play design, I am saying that scoring a TD there means a loss.

Look, you and me both know this defense cant stop a nosebleed and Rogers with a min on the clock would score a TD 10 times in 10 tries against this defense. So my thought process is that even if a score a TD on that play, it doesn't matter. I cant give the ball back to Rogers with less than 30 seconds on the clock or this game is a loss, my defense will not be able to stop him.

I had zero faith in the defense and it turns out my lack of faith was warranted........they did indeed failed to stop Rogers and lost

You can't argue with some. The fade was stupid.......catch it and they still have too much time. Incomplete and GB still saves their TO. An option run, draw or simple run is the only call in that situation and most see that.

I do think getting the TD is the #1 priority but Dallas went about it the wrong way. If we force them to use the last timeout, we are going to OT at worst.

A great final drive was wiped out due to ONE boneheaded play :(
