Stop the handwringing over the final offensive possession

I posted in the game thread when we still had the ball that we would score a TD yet they would score the final TD, and that's exactly what happened. I knew our defense couldn't stop Rodgers. Yet our coaching staff seemed oblivious to this fact when it was easily predictable.

When time kept ticking down I was just hoping they'd make sure Rodgers didn't get the ball back, then they started throwing the ball like there were 13 seconds left vs 1 minute 13 seconds left, plain stupid.

We scored 31 points at home. Home teams that score 30+ win 96% of the time in NFL history.

The bottom line is our offense gave us a huge cushion and he defense blew it. Then they got the lead back and all they asked was to keep GB from going 75 yards in 80 seconds.

Those pinpointing the last offensive series as the culprit are misplacing blame. You do whatever you need to to score there. You DO NOT fall down at the one. That's moronic. You don't run on 2nd down if you think the best play is a pass.

The defense lost this game, period. Dak and company did PLENTY.
Green Bays defense sucks too. They won because we made a simple error that any fan knew not to do. In many sports how you play at the end of the game determines the outcome. Coaches sucked and cost us the game. Defense should have never been put in that position.

And strategy will catch up to you......you can't hide the defense for ever. Let them get experience .
I think you're missing my point. We all know our defense is bad. It's exposed that much more when you're playing Aaron Rodgers. This calls for strategy.

Agree but when you score 21 in the first half and 10 in the second, that is a problem. Especially when this is a team that should run the ball and dominate and gain momentum in the 2nd half.

I don't know how many years in a row we are going to roll out the zone before we learn it's garbage. It's insanity.

We dont have good enough player for man buddy. Not defending, just sayin.

By taking the stance you just did you removed all context from the game and used a box score to analyze.

That's just silly.

The clock management inside of 2 min was so bad a 10 year old playing Madden could do better

This still does not excuse the egregious call to throw a fade pass in that situation giving the packers a min of 35 more seconds on the clock. Overall, did the offense do enough to win, sure, but they still did enough to lose the game by giving Rodgers that much time. It's like when a race car driver is in the lead on the last lap, and then suddenly decides to pull off into the pits to get a new tires. The driver did everything he could to win the race, but a dumb decision at the end made him lose the race. OK, lame analogy, but I should get credit for using the word egregious.

You realize GB would have just called a TO, right? A TO they would have scored without.

The offensive point total is irrelevant to the discussion, it was only a question of clock and Aaron Rodgers, a concept appreciated by winning coaches across the league.

If the 2000 Ravens scored 31 then there's no way the other team wins, but this is the 2017 Cowboys and the defense needs all the help it can get. It should also be concerning that the Cowboys have a hard time scoring points in the second half, so the offense isn't totally off the hook here.

It is moronic but there's several people who don't seem to realize that for some reason. If we were unable to get a TD because Dak took a dive at the 1, people would lose their ******* minds. You score the sure TD because you hope that an NFL defense can prevent a 75 yard TD in 80 seconds. Now, our defense is incompetent so of course they didn't, but that's on them, not on Dak or the offense.

Looking at schedule I don't see anything better than 7-9 . This is a bad football team with only 9 or 10 good players and with really , no exaggerating , terrible coaching .

the offense has to know what they have on defense. Alot of inexperienced DB & poor safety play going against possibly best QB ever. You might feel its not fair for offense to be accountable for putting defense on field at certain situation but that's a reality in Dallas. I watched this game with 25 other people in room (fans of different teams) and every person in room knew what was going to happen the moment Dak ran TD in too early.

We win this game if Williams doesn't have butter fingers.

You simply cannot play in the NFL working on the assumption that your defense will never be able to get a stop
Yeah but that is the hand we've been dealt and Jason and Dak failed to realize the total train wreck this defense is. I ask you this: What gives us a better chance to come away with a win this game? Winning or losing with the offense with four downs inside the Packers' three or stopping Aaron Rodgers on one final drive when your defense had given up 13 out of 17 drives in the last two games? I bet the odds of us scoring from the three in that situation is over 95% and the chance of us keeping Rodgers out of FG range probably 40% at best.

We should have played the odds here in a gone into the bye week 3-2 rather than two full games out of first and sitting at 2-3.

Yeah, pretend that we can simply score at will.

We don't have the leaf and need a TD. You simply can't burn downs there. You have a good matchup, you have to attack.

We don't get a TD and nothing matters. We'd be stupid to assume we could simply score whenever.

The odds are that if you are up by three with 70 seconds left, that you win about 95% of the time.

Seems like they did play the odds
