IM 53 years old. Ive been a fan since 1977. Im starting to have friends and family pass away. I live and die by this team all fall. BUT...seasons can not only be fun if you win a title. I coached softball for 20 years at a very high level, and I always told my girls that the game could not only be fun if you win The game is always fun. I live in ca and i will be going to the opener with my wife and oldest daughter and the the chargers, Cards and niners games with my oldest daughter. I hope we win a title.... but it is damn hard. So as we prepare for the 2023 season... step back, take a breath and enjoy the damn season. I want nothing more than for this team to win a sb....but not one person in here will have a better life if we do. Enjoy the ride, enjoy the games..... and go Cowboys!

It is the pre season though. It means absolutely nothing. If our entire offense and defense played the whole game and got lit up I could care less.

Maybe it means something for the younger players but even then…. to make judgements on one pre season game is insane.

Let em whine. It’s highly entertaining watching them flap their gums whining over this or that.
 
Nothing to whine about from me. We generally suck in the PS. It’s so many moving parts and players playing for spots. Most of them haven’t even spent any time together. The NFL is the ultimate team sport but in PS it’s about individuals.

Uh....the "old timers" come from a generation of earning everything they got.

You seem to be highly confused on what participation trophies are and how your generation doesn't know how to earn anything.
 
I know that on this board any critique is seen as overall negativity and whining but this 1st preseason game has to be put into proper context.

They fielded starters to begin with and us not so much…….the game was to evaluate talent or lack thereof

Nobody should be surprised with these players showing their shortcomings, rather it’s more important to see the STANDOUTS also they can be considered to be added to the 53 roster and practice squads

this game was to see if a Vaughn or Overshown can truly compete beyond the trading camp hype…..and they can, so far

I coached fastpitch softball for 20 years, 6 of those were in HS. I can promise you, those teams that we spanked regularly never viewed me as someone that gave out participation trophies. I am actually so competitive that my wife wont play board games because it is all about winning. I even track other players and what that ask in the game CLUE to make sure I win. But with the NFL,I am a fan, not a participant. I was around for 4 of the Cowboys 5 SB wins, and not a single one of them changed my life. Maybe someday you will learn that.

I am 57 years old and like yourself, I became a Dallas fan '77 ( Dorsett rookie season). And I agree with you for most of the your post. You will have those mockers where ever you go up and down the chatroom. But here is where I differ with you. ......... Yes, we all would like Dallas to win every season. Back in the "glory days", the Cowboys were always in the playoffs, literally every season. They won playoff games, frequently and got to NFC Conference games and Superbowls randomly. It has been 30 years since the latter part has happen. Hell, this franchise has been to a NFC conference game this Century. And the GM, will not allow any fresh ideas to get past this looooooong drought. That is it the definition of insanity and the pride/ego continues to feed this drought. Onto another season of the same because insanity still reigns
