Apparently he's not like that at all, i remember seeing some interviews with Josh Barnett from the Pride days talking about when they got drunk on Fedors vodka and showed up drunk to their press conference. In numerous interviews Barnett has said that Fedor is a clown always joking around behind the scenes

That's part of the Russian psyche. They may goof off behind closed doors, but trash talking and making a spectacle of yourself isn't appreciated there. They value quiet stocisism. Aside from the dollar figures, that's one of the reasons I think Dana and Fedor could never came to terms ... I don't think Fedor really respects Dana as a person because of his endless trash talking and running off at the mouth, so there was always a reluctance on his part to do business with him. Especially when he's demanding 100% complete control over your career.

So where does this loss rank next to Tyson and Buster Douglas?

This is one of the biggest upsets in sports history and nobody is talking about it.

I disagree. This happens to all fighters, even the greats .... very similar to the way Silva lost to Takase and Chonana ... trying to finish a clearly wounded fighter and leaves an area exposed to submission. And I'm not sure what Fedor did qualifies as a "mistake", I think it's just a by product of his style. He calmly waits for his opponent to expose his weakness and then he goes for the kill shot with no half measures. He's very aggressive in attempting to finish his opponent. If he had to do it over again, he probably wouldn't change anything and 19 out of 20 times he probably finishes Werdum, but this time it was the wrong fighter on the wrong night. That's the reason why his winning streak was so remarkable and likely never duplicated in MMA. Eventually the inevitable was going to happen, and this seems to be the night.

I just seen the fight and have to say Fedor looked like he was overweight for this fight.
