smart move by Dana and the UFC. just another reason why they have all the leverage now when it comes to possibly bringing Fedor to the UFC.BigWillie;3445160 said:

It reminds me a little of the first Lesnar - Mir fight. In other words, it looks to me like Werdum got very lucky and in a rematch he will get seriously hurt just like Mir did.
JMO. Those who know this game better can tell me I am wrong, but I don't think he could do that again.

those russians just lost money. if he goes to UFC he will get paid more than anywhere else and will get more sponsors than anywhere else including Tapout. Dana is basically saying come to the UFC and get paid or struggle to get paid in thjese little **** orgs like Dream and Strikefarce.BigWillie;3445317 said:You really think by ticking off a group of Russians that they will finally cave in?
If anything, this is only likely to push Fedor even farther away from the UFC, than it is being a 'shrewd' business move on Dana's part.

no they wouldn't cause Dana knew they would bow down. if it wasn't for the UFC Tapout clothing wouldn't be ****. Fedor needs to ditch his commy Russian management and go to the UFC.BigWillie;3445567 said:No, Dana is basically being a baby, as always. As the article states, he did the same thing to Dan Henderson after leaving the UFC, which is the reason Clinch Gear is banned by the UFC.
Ultimately, Dana can make these threats. But what happens when a sponsor finally reaches its end with Dana and leaves? Say Tapout had left - Dana, in his attempt to screw over Fedor, scored over a countless amount of fighters in the UFC. Some of those fighters, sponsored by Tapout, make only a few grand per fight. And now they would lose precious sponsorship money.
Yes, I'm sure you will say, "they can get another sponsor". Problem is, they will get sponsored for less. Less competition = less money. Even worse when these fighters are paying a portion of their sponsorship money to the UFC, just so these companies can be on their chests.
Even more, Dana is trying to stick it to Fedor for an ego boost. But the reality is, Vadim, and especially Fedor, will never have the need to worry about money in their lifetimes. Taking sponsorship money from them is the equivalent of yelling at a deaf dog to attempt to teach him a lesson.
This is not a business move, but a move made to boost the ego of Dana just as he has attempted to do for nearly a decade. And it's even more of a reason why these fighters need a union to combat some of the stupid junk the UFC gets away with.

That was a good fight. I gained a lot of respect for Noguera whom I have only seen fight one time and lost badly to Mir.
Fedor needed some of that and he kills Werdum. I think he thought he hurt him and it was going to be over. He dove in and got caught.
Good, because I hate being all alone in the dark.Hoofbite;3445579 said:I've wondered that as well.

he didn't really connect, Fedor knocked him off balance more so than knocked him down.MarionBarberThe4th;3445627 said:I dont think he even connected, looked like Fedor get suckered into it
This guys strength is BJJ and he wanted that fight on the ground.
cool story, bro. fact is Tapout didn't start making real money till the UFC exploded.BigWillie;3445618 said:Wait, what? Without the UFC then Tapout would not be ****? You do know that Tapout was around years before Dana even had visions of purchasing the UFC, correct?
You also know that Tapout was made due in large part to the independent scene in Cali where Mask, Skrape and Punk... made incredible efforts to brand and market smaller fighters. When these guys were making absolutely nothing on the indy scene, Tapout were giving these guys clothes and throwing some cash in their pockets.
Tapout is ENTIRELY a self-made company, and one of the only loyal companies that Dana and the UFC had from the very beginning when no one else wanted anything to do with the company or more importantly, with these fighters.
Even more, saying that Dana knew Tapout would back down goes without saying. Tapout is more loyal to its fighters than any company out there. If you have read the stories about how those guys go out of their way for fighters, then you know this is the case. Money wise, it would have little to no effect on them as a company. Tapout is a worldwide company and arguably the biggest and most well-known MMA apparel company in the world. But the effect it would have put on their fighters wallets is likely something they would not do.
And for Dana to even put a loyal company like Tapout in that position shows what an egotistical POS he really can be at times.
In the end, it does nothing to Fedor and Vadim. Those guys are financially stable for the rest of their life. The move was simply about ego - nothing more, nothing less.
