Dez has one year.. This year. If the Julio Jones and the Antonio Browns of the world can beat their men and get open regularly so can Dez... Period.

Don't get your expectations up for Dez to ever get open with the regularity that Antonio or Julio do. Not that he can't do it but he's not asked to do it. Linehan's approach is to spread the ball around so the defense has to stay honest by covering every target the Cowboys put down field. This also discourages defenses that like to blitz because Dak will burn them.

Target him 8-12 times a game like those other receivers and see the numbers he puts up..

I agree, we should've thrown him the ball 20+ times in the playoff game.
He is never going to get a lot of separation but if the ball is put in a good place he will almost always win the play. I think WR is going to be tempting next in he draft if there's someone with potential to be a #1

I was going to step around the target comparison, because it invites all sorts of disputes, but the WR ratings are pretty compelling.

I actually didn't mean to post that bc I didn't go back and check how much we'd actually paid him. But it's not necessarily a bad thing if he's been fairly compensated over the course of his career. You don't always renegotiate just because you've got a guy over a barrel.

We watched this team become a run first team with Zeke getting %100 of the attention. We also still won 13 games while being upside down in this Dez contract according to you. With Dak getting a off season to work with Dez, seeing his stats decrease is not likely.

The NFL is a year to year league. It goes for teams, it goes for players.

Every year, players have to prove that they are worth what they are being paid. Early on in an extension, you have a little more rope, but everyone has to play to their pay level, or they will either be forced to take a pay cut, or get cut outright.

It's no different for Dez Bryant.

On the subject of Dez, I have always thought he was overpaid. Not worth the money. The proof is right before you with the numbers, the injuries, ect.....ect.... And look no further than the team winning without him last year. Dak had no problem going to other guys in his absence. And not great receivers during that time. I am more of a believer that the QB makes the receiver more that the other way around. I also like run first oriented teams or balanced teams.

As far as Romo, he was injury prone towards the end. Most could see that. However there were plenty thinking he was playing a full 16 games before he got hurt again. How can anyone forget the laughable conversations about how your bones and body dont get more brittle as you get older.

Maclin’s career TD/GM ratio isn’t really up to par for that.

Bryant’s is.

And despite Bryant’s dip in bulk production, his TD averages are still pretty good (3rd in TDs per game here, 1st in TD/REC, 1st in TD/TGTs). This is all despite being extremely hampered in 2015.

If Bryant stays healthy, there isn’t much reason to think he won’t continue to be a TD machine.

And even if Maclin is healthy, there’s no reason to believe he’ll become one.
