No if you have been following my posts I have been saying we need to find his backup. All this doom and gloom on the team is so exaggerated due to Romo and Dez not being there.

Did you even bother to read the article that started this thread?

At all?

There are a ton of reasons for this epic and record-setting failure of a season. To try to oversimplify it by simply chalking it up to a Romo or Dez injury is both lazy and beyond ignorant.

Go back and read what this man carefully spelled out for you. He did the research, homework and analysis.

I have to applaud a valid discussive contribution...

And that's a plan?!?!?

Crossing your fingers and hoping that a 36-year old quarterback somehow manages to stay healthy because that fixes everything wrong with this team?

Unbelievable! Just endorse your paycheck to Jerry Jones and be done with it. You obviously want to be free from the burden of unnecessary thinking anyway.

:facepalm::facepalm:

It's not a plan. It's called knowing that the time bomb is ticking and just hunkering down to absorb the inevitable. Sadly, there is no contingency in the thought process of our front office or some of our fans.

I agree with you that we need to find the Next QB in Dallas but, I don't have any confidence that this front office & coaching staff
has a clue how to evaluate and select QB's. Not only that but, when they do go get one, they have no one on the staff to
coach them. It's probably better for Jones to pay up to get a proven QB because they sure as heck can't select or develop one.

The shame of it all is Jerry really is a great owner. He has done many great things. Stadium, new facility in Frisco, just off the top of my head. The list of great things this man has done is long.

He has been instrumental in the growth of the league itself. He is an incredible businessman.

If he could only truly step aside from football ops and let someone much more qualified handle things, Jerry could really be someone that we could all truly admire and respect.

But no. Absolutely MUST have all the credit for putting a team together, and will bring in no one that could potentially be recognized as being the one who assembled the winning team.

It really doesn't look like he is ever going to stop trying, and we are all probably going to have to outlive him to see this team on top again.

It's amazingly sad. I'm sad for all of us. I'm sad for Jerry also....for all he knows and has accomplished...he cannot see that "his way" doesn't work, despite decades of failure.

Its like the syndrome players have to WANT to be rappers...and the syndrome rappers have to WANT to be athletes.

But here is the difference...the NFL is a cash cow....sure Jerry WORKS to make his the most profitable...but if you own a NFL team...turning a SIZEABLE profit is guaranteed. So that is not enough of a challenge for him....he has made money all of his adult life...so that does not impress him. Winning...with himself at the helm....that is what he is obsessed with. And it is sad that no one in his circle has not gotten the following through to him: IF.....IF we ever won....with him at the helm...he STILL would not get the credit he craves. A broke clock is right twice a day would be the headline.....this is a very very sick man. Who just so happened to buy the team I fell in love with LONG before I know who Jerry Jones was.

I'm in agreement with a backup with pedigree, and who can join from the training off season to get fully functional behind Tony Romo.

Obviously, the backups couldn't carry the ball in support. The team needs dominance added, not players described as top shelf.

That's exactly my fear as well. And my only hope is that Goff has been coached up enough so that he's ready for the pro game because I have no faith that anyone on this staff has the ability to help him become better.

Based on their clear track record of perpetual failure, how could anyone think otherwise?

Sadly I don't see any real change until Jerry is in that Big Owner's Box in the Sky...

Totally agree this staff is useless and I doubt they can draft and develop a Qb. There are some decent FA and they should target one of them.

Good article as always.

I'm a little surprised that a journalism guy would commit the common misspelling of "burying the lead" (should be "lede") since the term comes from the newspapers.

I'm wary of blowing up the team but if heads are going to roll I do think the coaches that game plan the offense should be first at the chopping block. And defense has to solve the pick plays like yesterday.

What do we do about lack of takeaways?

I agree with your statement in bold. The offensive coaches get one more pass (mainly because they were missing their two best offensive players) but their leash is short. They have to be more resourceful with what they put on the field. They have to find ways to score more points.

As for the defense, they need more playmakers at LB and in the secondary. They also need to play less tentatively and be more aggressive.

Romo staying healthy. Can't believe that most of you really believe that we are all the sudden the Cleveland Browns.

What would the Cleveland Brown be with an elite quarterback?

Its cuts both ways. The delta between great and mediocre in the NFL isn't all that great. Getting the right QB changes everything.

What do we do about lack of takeaways?
16 of the defense's 30 takeaways last year happened when Dallas was leading by 10+ points. Also, last year we played 12 games against teams that ranked in the bottom 10 (or tied for the bottom 10) in fewest turnovers. We didn't have the offense this year to get those big leads, and we didn't have last year's schedule of turnover-prone opponents.
