Any specific reason why?

Should be obvious. I don't want a player that you have to worry about them with off the field legal issues.
I know they were dropped before anyone comes and tries to lecture me about it...nope, rather not have that headache waiting to happen.
Went through enough of that with the cowboys during the superbowl years and after....don't want no more of it.

Suh is expensive and he can get in trouble on the field be he is proven beast that would do wonders for this defense.

JPP...he was killer in his early years and has tailed off some due to injury. I think he might want paid as if he never tailed off and had no injuries.

If you are going to pay big money, pay it for the guy has been a beast his whole career.

How good would this dline be if we somehow landed Hardy and Suh?

Might be a bit irresponsible, but the window is open now, and it could slam shut relatively quickly..

Go for it

Agree, the window is short and we might not sniff the playoffs for awhile when Romo retires. This team can not wait to rebuild the defense IMO. Continue through the draft with adding some key defensive pieces.

Settle down, Bevis. :)

I'll be happy with one edge rusher and a top pick or two spent along the DL. We don't normally spend big in VFA, but there are a couple young guys with pass rush available this year, and so little in the cupboard on DL with few options that are going to safely make it down to us at 27 in the draft (where they're not likely to have an immediate impact, anyway). I think this year might be a year where we take a stab at a bigger contract if we can get something done creatively. That's why I think Hardy makes the most sense. Suh is going to get a huge long-term deal, and JPP probably isn't in the mood to take a discount. Hardy might come in for a big payday this year with an option or a chance to hit FA again next season with a cleaner slate and a higher profile.

If Dallas decides they want a premier pass rusher, who would you rather have in this group? I think you can make a pretty strong case for any of the three:

Suh: Maybe the most dominant DT in the NFL. RKG?

Hardy: 13 sacks in 2012, 14 in 2013. Can line up as both the LDE and RDE.

JPP: Just turned 26. One of the most game-changing DE's in the NFL when healthy. Freak athlete.

Personally, I would love to see what Rod M. would be able to do with a healthy JPP. I think he's just starting to hit his peak years.

Who would you pick?

I would not take Suh. He is so good that he will make every team much better. But do you need such kind of a player to make your team better ? You can get a very dominant DT for half the oney and still have the same benefit. Then price tag is just to high. I say: No Mam.

JPP has to show that he was not a one year wonder. He had a great first year and then was hit by injuries. Still he is viewed like a premier pass rusher and expects to get paid like it. Too many questionsmarks. If he shows 2 more consitent years i'd take another look.

So right now i'd settle with Hardy if the price is right.

Who are all these dominant tackle that you can get cheaply that are floating out there that give you the same benefit as a Suh?

Suh and it isn't really close. The thing qbs hate more than anything in a collapsing pocket.

If not for the money, Suh is the man. We have an outside rush with Lawrence and Spencer. The problem with our outside rush wasn't that we didn't get a push, but we were just too late getting to the quarterback. You put Suh in the middle, it forces the quarterback to escape to the outside where Lawrence and Spencer (or whoever else is manning the DE spot) to make the play.

I'm sorry, but I want no part of Hardy. Even if the charges were dismissed, his ex-girlfriend is a coke addict. Does anyone think he too doesn't do coke? And I still believe he beat that girl. Maybe not as bad as she made it seem, but I believe he has put his hands on her. Nope. Don't want him.

Probably Hardy because the cost is likely much less than Suh.

Suh is probably the biggest impact, but could cost 2x what Hardy will cost.

JPP had back surgery at some point in the past. I would probably stay away for that reason.

Suh has a crazy price in mind.

JPP started off hot but has had injuries slow him down.

The lions would like to have Suh back but might not due to the cap issue.

Don't know if the Giants want JPP back or not.

IT has been stated that the Panthers do NOT want Hardy back. Has to be an issue there and not just the off the field legal issue. He is young, has production his last two years, I think they franchised him or was going to ...now they don't want him back? Seems odd. Raises flags to me.

Their owner is ultra conservative. They have the NFL logo at mid field instead of their own logo because their owner which seems a bit odd.

Honestly I think it is Jerry Richardson making a scene. Charlotte is a weird sports town when it comes to things like this. Richardson mandated that he didn't want Cam Newton to have any visible tattoos. Richardson knows what kinda of fans he has buying PSLs and he doesn't want to lose that support. I hate to bring it up, there are racial overtones in play here.

Similarly, when the Bobcats were trying to make there franchise more attractive to fans, they drafted now out of the league Adam Morrison despite all the scouts reports that he was terrible in all the workouts. Local reports later speculated that Jordan pulled the trigger on him in an effort to have a white "star" be the face of the team to attract more fans.

If it's among these three, I would go with Suh.

Hardy beats JPP for production and consistency but his off the field issues raise too big a flag for me.

Suh has a great work ethic, non-stop motor and rare strength - in those respects he reminds me of a larger Randy White. His on the field antics concern me, as does his price tag. But of these three FAs, no one will improve the D the way Suh would. He would demand constant double teams and still drive most guards back into the QB's lap, open up the inside for Crawford to use his quickness 1-on-1, and would give the edge rushers that added fraction of a second that would result in more pressures, hits and sacks.

The window is pretty narrow. I don't think the Cowboys have the luxury of rebuilding the D-line through the draft as they did with the O-line. The Colts went from Manning to Luck, the Packers from Favre to Rodgers, the 9ers from Montana to Young. Dallas does not have an heir apparent to Romo. I think you really have to do an all out blitz to win SB 50 or 51.

I can't stand Suh. But it's hard to not take any of the 3 of them. Our line would instantly be in pretty good shape if we had any of these 3.

I'll bet all three end up in NFC East.
