People are sick of the Patriots.
Thanks for the update!Actually, they are not down at all.
According to The Wrap, which is a television industry standard, the numbers were huge and only trailed 2015. Across the board, from online streaming and even foreign. I think the writer may have jumped the gun on early returns.
Here's the article from Monday evening...
http://www.thewrap.com/ratings-super-bowl-li-posts-huge-numbers-just-shy-of-record/
I was in 5 leagues last year with buyins ranging from $20 to $5k. My newest league is over 5 years old at this point.
Meanwhile I consume every football game that's on television.
Ratings were down due to the match-up and a mediocre season and post-season more so than because fantasy football is a thing. 53 percent of American households tuned in yesterday. Id bet good money that that 53 percent represented well over 95+ percent of fantasy football households.
A tweet I sent out
Yes, I think something is very fishy.
Tennis is sport where competitors used to be washed up at 28. Dan Marino had nothing left at the end. Elway's tank was at empty. 15 years later, it looks like Brady could play another 10 years at age 39. BS.
It ain't just these 3 either.
I'm the same way. Now I've watched most Superbowls but I definitely tune out. I just think each year I become less and less a fan of football and the only thing keeping me around ia the Cowboys.I don't watch football if the Cowboys are not playing, have no interest in it. I haven't watched a super bowl game since 2002.
Highly disagree....been playing since 93...I haven't missed a SB since way before then. Either way GREAT to see LG had higher ratings than the game.Because fantasy football players don't care about actual games.
That was my point. lolDo you watch the Oscars or Spelling Bee or World Cup or Pulitzer Awards or Tonys or World Series...etc
Billions couldn't care less
The players aren't out there looking for someone to listen to their agenda. They are being asked. The political rhetoric being spewed by the players, Hollywood, the networks, and the NFL is beginning to take its toll on a huge portion of the fan base. Also the casual fan is being turned away by the every day drama of players.
Nevada sports books kept a combined $10.9 million from Super Bowl bets, or 7.9 percent of the total money wagered on the game, down from the $13.3 million, or 10.1 percent, they kept last year........ is this enough to influence games??
The sports books have now come out ahead in nine consecutive Super Bowls, their last loss coming in 2008 when the New York Giants beat New England.
the brief overtime, in which the Patriots scored a touchdown in their first possession, allowed Fox to add four more commercials. It is not clear how many more ad dollars Fox was able to get; the network was charging $5 million for 30-seconds of airtime during the game. Fox brought in an estimated $509.6 million in ad revenue for the broadcast,
NFL's four U.S. TV partners, Fox, NBC, CBS and Walt Disney Co's ESPN, are collectively paying $5.4 billion per year under their current media rights contracts.
ok for the math guys, 5.4 bil divided by 32 teams us how much per team??
Thanks168,750,000 per team.
Someone is an idiot if they didn't care about the Superbowl or had something better to do?
Why are you explaining this to me like I'm the one who made the comment?A lot of people work. A lot of people don't even have a television. Some don't even have electricity.
I realize this is completely foreign reality for millennials.
Streamed it.
If I watch nowadays, I stream. Until the NFL shows they care about the product they're selling by hiring full-time officials at the least, I won't be purchasing anything.
they are the only source, and actually monitor their families, so they have had a monopoly on the ratings since tv began. So why do we ever believe in Neilson ratings anyway?
