oh and whoever posted that Marion Barber could be a surprise cut- wash your face, and please put the paint back in the shed where it belongs.

Nah, just wishful thinking.
You sure last years surprise wasnt Pettiti?Hostile;1561313 said:Two of the last 3 years the surprise cut has been a QB. There is a precedent.

MCowboys;1561427 said:Just wondering, if Brad Johnson got cut who would be our backup? If Romo got hurt we'd be starting either a undrafted rookie (Bartel or Moore) or a practice squad QB (Baker). I don't think we would enter the season with either or those guys as the backup.

Oh, please, please, please, let it (finally!) be Keith Davis. ray:

Party pooper. I'll have to put my faith in the hope that Abram Elam will surplant him on the depth charts and take up residence behind Roy Williams. Anyone or anything to get Mr. Keith "I attract bullets in the early hours" Davis out of Big D.Alexander;1561604 said:If we intended on forcing him at FS once again, I would agree.
But as a SS backup, he might finally be in his element and could be useful. We already know he can do the job on special teams.
ZeroClub;1561616 said:I'd be really surprised if Stanback were cut. The organization seems excited by his potential, there must be some understanding that it'll take Stanback some time to make the transition to WR (and possibly PR), and if Stanback doesn't appear to be 100% healthy - the Cowboys will want to keep him around to see what he can do when healthy.
So, that said, if he were cut, he'd be a surprise cut.
Your whole argument hangs on the word "true". He already has demonstrated the speed and moves necessary to play the position while at the University of Washington. If he can prove that he can run routes and catch passes both well and consistently, your argument is dead in the water.eduncan22;1561608 said:Stanback is not a true WR.
He played WR some in his freshman year.
He's a QB.
Why would you want to see your team's number one defensive back running back kicks? The potential for injury in that capacity should merit a more cautious take on that option, imo. If Stanback can prove to be a reliable punt returner, why not allow him to do so? The risks to your fifth wide receiver would be much less than to your number one defensive back, right?eduncan22;1561625 said:Why would you want Stanback to be a PR, when Newman is already a top tier PR in the NFL? I don't see that happening.
If anything, someone gets hurt, and Stanback shows enough to get a 5th WR spot.
Doubtful.

What do zero games and a training camp holdout make you?McCordsville Cowboy;1561454 said:Uh no.....
Because he fumbled in 3 of his 8 regular season game on kickoffs...
I wouldnt want him toting the rock in crunch time if he cant hold on to the ball. One play doesnt make you a star. Especially in a game you lose. Just like 5 games don't make you the next Troy Aikman.
