The timeout was called when little Micah pleaded for one but 1) he's not the coach and doesn't make those decisions and 2) they waited until they saw the Eagles line up at the LOS before calling the timeout. A smart move to see what the opponent is thinking.

For any fan to criticize that just shows they didn't understand what was going on.

Suh and Joseph don't do much for the pass rush, only the run game. We only gave up 87 yards on the ground and held Sanders to 3 yards a carry. That was without LVE who has been a stud in the run game. Where we have been lacking is in getting pressure on the QB
They got pressure on Minshew, even if they didn't get any sacks. Pressure is what ultimately finished them off.

Anthony Barr was gift wrapped a much needed INT and the ball bounces off him . If I’m not mistaken the Eagles scored on that drive and a Barr INT would have stopped that from happening . Along with LVE injury the linebacking position needs help .

Maybe not in 2022 but next year either Jabril Cox and Devin Harper step up or your looking at a much needed LB in either rounds 1-3 in the next draft .
Barr isn't someone I've been clamoring for, but he did make some plays yesterday.

The Eagles roster is legit solid because of their GM. If Hurts was playing most of us knew it might have been a different outcome. Let’s play them in Philly, with Hurts and see if we can beat them. That will make me a believer

I think we can no longer say this is a SB caliber defense like the media has been telling us all year. Just like Tony experienced, Dak and the offense is what will lead the way.

I thought your post was well written and basically hit the nail on the head per my thoughts when I watched the game last night.

My other thought watching the game is that Micah seemed to have supersonic speed chasing the QB down last year. The few games I watched this year where I could actually watch the Cowboys, and perhaps it's just me, it seems Micah doesn't have the same speed running towards the ball as he did last year.
He did chase Minshew down and cause him to panic throw it OB, bringing on 4th down, IIRC. I think it was the play right before they forced Minshew to overthrow in the end zone.

It's not that Jerry didn't go get Suh or Joseph after signing Hankins. He should have grabbed two of those 3 guys before the season. Who really thought the rotation of Hill, Bohanna, Odighzuwa, Watkins, and Gallimore was going to be a run stuffing DL? This team has overlooked the DT position for years and we are seeing the results now. Getting Hankins was a good sign that maybe Jerry is seeing the light. But getting only one DT shows he still taps the breaks when it comes to signing interior linemen. It almost as if Jerry told Quinn, "okay, just this once, but no more!".

Having said that, the run defense is not a problem because of the DTs alone. There are other issues with this defense that allow running yardage.

at this point, I am more worried about the pass coverage and pass rush. We got shredded by Gardner Minshew last night. We couldn't cover the bones of my grandmother, rest her soul. We can;t get off the field anymore. The middle of the field is always wide open especially underneath and out of every 3 downs we give up 8 more more yards on at least one down.

The Good news is the Eagles are a really good defensive team and we put up 37 points on the, thank to some shoddy ball protection by them. But depending on the offense to rack up that many point in the playoffs is a really bad strategy. The defense needs to get fixed or we are one and done again.

I think with both teams being at full strength we are very competitive . Dak is not going to gift wrap a pick six to them every game and I don't believe they're going to have four turnovers.

But I do believe with the best offensive line in football and Jalen Hurts playing They are going to be able to run the ball a lot better if we play them again.
And I believe we would have had a much better chance of stopping them with a rotation of Hankins, Suh and Joseph.

At which point we would have forced them into our strength and forced hurts to have to throw and deal with our relentless pass rush.

But our front office has failed us in this chess match against our division rival and unfortunately if we meet them in the playoffs and both teams are at full strength this could be our undoing.
That is provided our coaching staff doesn't pull some horrendous blunder at the end of a game and cost us.

Very sad because we have the talent to make it to the Super bowl and the front office had the opportunity to solidify this and failed to go all in.

you’ve said the same thing like ten times in this thread we get it. just curious do any of your hypotheticals have us winning? we poured it on their vaunted defense and played them close w/out dak and w/ hurts. they’ve nearly lost to the colts, cardinals, lions etc and got beat (w/ hurts ) by washington. they’re not unbeatable by any stretch of the imagination. nobody else signed or was interested in suh or joseph, we grabbed hankins and have added cb depth and an immediate contributor at wide out. i like our chances

Yes I said we need to be healthy on defense to be able to compete That's scenario has us winning provided everybody else takes care of their business.

Yes the Eagles played us close without DAk then they added some run stoppers something that we needed desperately.

My belief is if we had more beef in the middle Micah and delaw wouldn't be wore down to a frazole at this point.

Hankins was a great addition it showed at least they were aware of what was going on and trying to make an effort but we needed more and the Eagles took more and I'm sorry but I would absolutely hate to come up a little short of beating the Eagles in a playoff game because the front office was overmatched sorry but losing to the Eagles just doesn't set well with me in any way shape or form

After throwing the INT if the defender is stood up until help comes or go low try and tackle him you might limit a Minshew led offense to a FG instead of an instant Turnover TD . Let’s face it Minshew threw 3 picks ( Barr dropped his ) if Dak can somehow mitigate a terrible pass not have the defender waltz into glory and the defense holds Philly to 3 it’s a double digit Cowboy win .

I am so glad Dak rebounded had himself a very nice afternoon and the Eagles had to pack up the NFC East Champs 2022 T shirts and hats Siriani was waiting to mug for the cameras in the lockeroom .

On top of that the Giants and Commanders both LOST . Thanks gentlemen . And here’s another ANTI Rest players point . What if Wash needs to win its last game to grab a wildcard , You start your starters play hard and defeat them to deny a playoff spot to a division rival . You don’t go Doug Pederson and play Nate Seinfeld for goodness sakes .

Yeah was that the same group that called the fade into the Sun true genius.
They weren't waiting for anything Micah finally got a timeout so they could get a breath and be fresh to rush the passer otherwise they would just let it go.

Maybe it was the same group that didn't bother to tell the players they should stay in bounds and let the clock run but I guess we've kind of become used to poor clock management at the end of the game so I probably shouldn't even bring that up

Now everyone will say because this was a division game and the Eagles have the best record in the league why would I be surprised the game was close.

The Eagles turned the ball over four times and we're starting their second string quarterback.

The game was so close because the Eagles trenches outplayed our trenches They had six sacks and we had zero.

Dak put this team on his back and after his early mistake did everything in his power with his arm and legs to win this game for us .
Saying he was physically dominating is an understatement.

All that said our defense is somewhat of a concern because of its health The Eagles showed that they made a great move by signing Suh and Linville Joseph as they are getting roughly 40% of the defensive snaps and making an impact on their defense.

Jerry sat on his hands and let the eagles out maneuver us just when our defense was getting banged up. If we can't get healthy by the playoffs this could be our undoing letting the Eagles beat us in this chess match of defensive free agents.

They already have the best offensive line They just line up at the goal line tell everybody they're going to run and do it.

We have the talent in so many areas and had the opportunity to get the talent to take us over the top granted our coaching in the clutch is horrible poor Micah couldn't even get a timeout when the defense was totally gassed
I think it would have been nice if somebody would have let everybody know on offense to avoid going out of bounds and make the clock run I mean McCarthy could do something constructive like that.

Hey nobody's happier than me about getting a win over the Eagles on Christmas Eve but I see the foreshadowing of what's to come and it's concerning

Thoughts??
Ironically, the first match between the two teams this year was vey similar.

Glad we won but the game wasn’t encouraging. Eagles just looked better than us until the turnover bug hit them. Can’t see that happening if we play them again.

The pick 6 certainly didn't help. That made up whatever handicap the Eagles had right there.

Throw in Digg's blunders and we made it too easy for them. I don't see us handing them 7 in the playoffs or Diggs playing gamble style either.

If you were told you're team scored 34 points and not once punted in the entire game, would be a pretty sure bet you thought your team would have won.

End of the day, it was a good game.

In the first game the Cowboys turned the ball over too and the game was up for grabs in the 4th quarter. So it's not that surprising considering our D didn't play very well.

Agreed. That said, and perhaps it's just me, seemed like last year #11 would have run him down.

That said, could be #11 is being worked to death trying to make up for some people missing.
