Well, Bill just ended his PC by saying "Bobby's going to be playing more and more as we go".

He sounded very pleased with Carp's recent progress.

Poor Bill. He's so clueless. I have it on good authority from "respectable" posters here that Carp is a bust.

Yeah, that was good to hear... He said Bobby was making good progress now.

I bet he starts Sunday. I can't wait to see him play more, because I think he's going to get better and better -- and give us more than Singleton.

Does not matter whether its the 3-4 or 4-3; if you do not have good pass rushers you are toast.

Exactly what I have been saying.

It's not the set, it is the players and in many cases poor coaching decisions.

Zimmer has to go, I am so sick of his act.

As much as the 'move' to more 4-3 is generated by desperation to create a better pass rush for the playoffs, it's exciting to contemplate how Carp will figure in the equation.

Just hope it's not too little, too late....and that we don't end up banging our heads against the wall because the coaches didn't find a way to get this boy involved more ALL year.

Well this is not a race ...... if for some crazy reason we started to play lights out now ,since we are in the playoffs, its never to little to late.

the only real difference will be hatcher outside of the ot instead of inside. could be a big deal though. he gets nice pressure from the de spot in the 3/4 and in the 4 man front he will be outside the ot so he should be more effective on the pass rush. i don't think we are switching schemes, just looking at an opponent who passes alot and this gives us a shot at more pressure

Bring back the 4-3. The 3-4 sucks...I hate it and it has nothing to do with Parcells or Zimmer.

Really?

Is that why Baltimore, New England, Pittsburgh and San Diego all use it or some version of it?

I agree

I cant believe anyone thinks that BECAUSE we were a 4-3 defense in 2004, it was bad...that team had alot of issues, including no healthy CB's and no pass rusher save Ellis

Parcells changed to the 3-4 because he said it was easier to find pressure players that fit that scheme...he said it would be less predictiable and tougher for offenses to figure out...that may be true with teams like new England or San Diego, but not with his version of it

honestly the players we have all fit the 4-3 defense better IMO anyway, the only one who might not be better off is Canty...even Jason Ferguson says he prefers playing DT in the 4-3

David

It all goes back to who is running the schemes. If Zimmer is running them, then it doesnt matter what type of defense you want to implement. Zimmer will find a way to screw it up.

Dallas could run the 4-4-3 and Ferguson and Ratliff as tackles, Spears and Canty at end.

Ware and Caperter and Burnett rotating on the outside with James, Ayodele, Roy Williams rotating inside.

Parrish deep at safety.

Aaron Glenn takes over in the slot for Parrish.

This might actually play to Cowboy strengths and allow for no less than 5 pass rushers on the standard play. Blitzes would be fun to disguise in this format as well.

All I can say is that I'm big on the 4-3. We're getting chewed up on 1st down passes because:

1. Canty and Spears can't rush the passer.
2. Our second best pass-rusher is on the bench (Hatcher).

Let Canty/Spears/Ferguson share the DT position.

Let Ware/Hatcher/Ratliff share the DE position.
Great point. And let's not forget how much they drop Ware into coverage which is pure stupidity when he's your only pressure threat.

FWIW I expect us to play a lot of nickel. 4 man line but not a 4-3 set.

The Lions pass a lot and we are dressing extra DL for the game.

Keep those guys fresh and attacking.

Nickel helps us cover more guys with Glenn in the game. It also helps us blitz without forcing RW or the FS to man cover.

I'm sorry, but anything involving Roy Williams playing further back than 3 yards from the line of scrimmage is doomed for failure.

Didn't Parcells say Ware couldn't be an every down DE in this league? Who would be his sub?

I wasn't putting him in coverage at all, blitzer and run stuffer who moved around was my thinking.

I would assume Glymph will get some reps. He's about the only option.
