You might be young, and that's okay. Brief run down:

T.O. is a HOF caliber wide receiver who only has Jerry Rice ahead of him in numbers put up.

He has put up incredible numbers, but he has a little more than just Jerry Rice ahead of him.

6th in receptions
2nd in receiving yards
3rd in receiving TDs

No way. He is the complete antithesis of the Bill Belichick player - not to mention about 10 years past his prime.

TO at age 40 is still in the top tier of wideouts. His last year at age 38 he still put up 1000 yards and 10 TD's. Let's not act like he's just another guy if he comes back and plays for the Pats this year. The guy takes care of himself.

TO has never had the speed that Moss had and has even less now and never was that good at catching the ball. Apples and oranges.

..and this here says it all, folks.

You forgot another number

#1 dummy of all time(to put it in nice words)

He will be HOF, but not first ballot.

No, he isn't in the top tier of WRs right now. If he was then Seattle would have hung onto him last year. They needed a top tier receiver. At this point in his career he is just another guy. Just about everyone in the NFL takes care of themselves.

Also, he had 983 yards and 9 TDs at age 37, his last year in the league in 2010. He actually was 36 years old for most of that season since his birthday is in December. At age 38 he couldn't even make a team.

If he comes back and plays this year.. he'll put up top tier wideout numbers. Period.

He did it his last season in 2010, and he's perfectly capable of doing it again this year.. especially taking passes from Tom Brady.

You can say everyone in the NFL takes care of themselves.. but TO is a workout freak. I sincerely doubt there are more than a handful of people in this world that are in better physical condition than him at age 40.

No, he won't put up top tier numbers. His prime is over. It happens to everyone eventually. Age catches up to all players.

I respect your opinion, but disagree. Again, his last year in the league, at age 37, he put up 1000 yards and 9 TD's in 14 games. Im not arguing that he's past his prime.. but his prime was so superior to anyone playing right now, that's what makes him one of the best, if not the best of all time. He doesn't need to be "in his prime" to still be one of the best in the league.

If he comes back this year, with Tom Brady throwing to him, watch out for some fireworks because he'll put up big numbers again, imo. He's still got the speed/strength combo that most wide receivers only dream of. At age 38, he ran a 4.45 40.. not many players could ever say that.

When I think of top tier productivity, I think of finishing in the top 10 in receptions, yards and/or TDs.

The last year TO finished in the top 10 in receptions was 2002.

The last year TO finished in the top 10 in receiving yards was 2007.

The last year TO finished in the top 10 in TD receptions was 2008.

I find it difficult to believe that he would finish with top 10 numbers this season if he were to play because it has been several seasons since he has done just that. He is now older, had to deal with a severe injury and hasn't played the last two seasons. You don't get better under those conditions.

What top tier receiver means to me is a guy who produces a lot of yards and a lot of points for his team. So I consider all of those categories, not just being good in one of them. His last year in the league he produced as a top tier receiver imo, 1000 yards and 9 TD's. Not too many other guys produced like that that year. 9 other receivers had a better yardage/points combo than he did, so to me that makes him a top ten receiver.

Again, agree to disagree.. and I get that you don't like him.

I did consider all of those categories. It has been since 2008 that he was elite(top 10) in any single one of those categories. It has been longer since he was elite in multiple categories during the same season.

I don't like him. It isn't about that. It is about him no longer being an elite receiver. He isn't and hasn't been for a while now. I have no reason to expect him to suddenly become elite again at this point in his career.

I hope he plays, and I hope he has a 10 touchdown season. That would be great.

He deserves it, imo.

I think he could be effective, and produce a bit, but he's not going to produce top 10 numbers. He hasn't done that in a while. I wouldn't mention him in the same breath as the Andre Johnson, Calvin Johnson, Fitz, Dez Bryant, Welker, Roddy White, Julio Jones, AJ Greens of the NFL. These are the guys that at minimum will be ahead of him in every single catagory.

I think he could still produce some value for a team like the Pats but he's not going to produce in the top 10 in anything.

Thing is could he live with that role?

No I don't think so.

At this point I think he could, and he would. The guy was a beast for so many years, and he keeps himself in shape. He can at least do for the Pats what Lloyd did last season. I see that happening easily.

He was top 10 in Rec TD's per game in 2010, and if he had played all 16 games would have very likely been top 5 for TD's on the season.
